1. Anti-Hyperglycemic Activities, Molecular Docking and Structure-Activity Relationships (SARs) Studies of Endiandric Acids and Kingianins from Endiandra kingiana
Diabetes has become a severe chronic disease worldwide with patients significantly increasing daily. Due to the side effects of insulin and oral hypoglycaemic agents employed in diabetes treatment, scientists are working hard to develop alternative approaches from natural plants that inhibit α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Consequently, by performing a phytoc

2. Chemical composition and lipoxygenase activity of soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill.) genotypes, specific for human consumption, with different tegument colours

Cissus verticillata, a Vitaceae very used in the traditional medicine in Pará and Minas Gerais State - Brazil, was investigated in order to validate its indication for the hyperglycaemia control. The aqueous extract reduces the normal glycaemia of male white Wistar rats in about 19.5 %. The hypoglycaemic effect of this extract could be related to the flavon

6. Brain metabolism after recurrent insulin induced hypoglycaemic episodes: a PET study.
Neuropsychological testing was carried out and the rate of oxygen metabolism in the brain was measured by PET in 15 highly selected patients with type 1 diabetes. The aim was to investigate the impact on the brain of hypoglycaemic comas resulting from insulin treatment. No significant difference was found between nine patients with a history of more than 10

7. Cerebrospinal fluid lactate in patients with diabetes mellitus and hypoglycaemic coma.
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) lactate and pyruvate concentrations were determined in 20 patients with diabetes mellitus but without disturbance of consciousness and five who recovered from hypoglycaemic coma. CSF lactate was slightly but significantly higher in diabetes mellitus (1.78, SEM 0.04 m mol/l) than that in 15 control subjects (1.40, SEM 0.05 m mol/l).

9. Muscle wasting after prolonged hypoglycaemic coma: case report with electrophysiological data.
A case of distal muscle wasting associated with hypoglycaemia is described. Motor and sensory conduction studies are reported that provide little evidence of a hypoglycaemic peripheral neuropathy. Damage to anterior horn cells or motor roots appears to be a more likely explanation for the amyotrophy. Recovery occurred clinically with evidence of reinnervatio

10. Hypoglycaemic hemiplegia: a repeat SPECT study.
During a hypoglycaemic right hemiplegia induced by a deliberate overdose of oral hypoglycaemics, brain CT and angiography revealed no abnormalities. SPECTs made one day and six days later showed relative hypoperfusion in the left hemisphere. Repeat SPECT study suggested that the left hemisphere was more vulnerable than the right in the cerebral blood perfusi
