1. Impact of drains positioning on pulmonary function after coronary artery bypass grafting: an observational study
Abstract Introduction: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a procedure associated with a decline in pulmonary function. Among the main causes is the presence of the drain that is usually positioned in the intercostal or subxiphoid region. Objective: To measure the interference of drains positioning on pulmonary function in patients undergoing CABG.

5. PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC APPROACHES AND THE EFFECTS ON INSPIRATORY MUSCLE FORCE IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE IN THE PRE-OPERATIVE PREPARATION FOR ABDOMINAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES

6. Inspiratory loading exercises on respiratory muscle function in post-operative gastroplasty patients: a randomized clinical trial

8. The influence of inspiratory muscle training combined with the Pilates method on lung function in elderly women: A randomized controlled trial
OBJECTIVE: Aging is progressive, and its effects on the respiratory system include changes in the composition of the connective tissues of the lung that influence thoracic and lung compliance. The Powerbreathe® K5 is a device used for inspiratory muscle training with resistance adapted to the level of the inspiratory muscles to be trained. The Pilates meth

9. RESPIRATORY MUSCLE STRENGTH IN IDIOPATHIC SCOLIOSIS AFTER TRAINING PROGRAM
ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the impact of a physiotherapy protocol in maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressure in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) by manovacuometry. AIS may change the respiratory dynamics and the performance of inspiratory and expiratory muscles, affecting ventilatory capacity. Methods: Patients with AIS aged 10

10. Acute effects of Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) on different levels in ventilation and electrical activity of sternocleidomastoid and parasternal muscles in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients: a randomized controlled trial
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the acute effects of EPAP on the activity of sternocleidomastoid (SCM), parasternal muscles and ventilatory parameters in COPD patients. Method Twenty-four patients with COPD were studied using surface electromyography (sEMG) and a ventilometer. Patients were randomly assigned to EPAP 10 cmH2O-EPAP10 or 15 cmH2O-EPAP15 for

12. Intercostal and forearm muscle deoxygenation during respiratory fatigue in patients with heart failure: potential role of a respiratory muscle metaboreflex
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of respiratory muscle fatigue on intercostal and forearm muscle perfusion and oxygenation in patients with heart failure. Five clinically stable heart failure patients with respiratory muscle weakness (age, 66±12 years; left ventricle ejection fraction, 34±3%) and nine matched healthy controls underwent
