1. Evaluation of hematite and quartz flotation kinetics using surfactant produced by Rhodococcus erythropolis as bioreagent
Abstract The use of biosurfactants as reagents represents a promising alternative to the conventional surfactants used in the mineral industry because they may present low toxicity and high biodegradability. Therefore, this research studied the hematite and quartz flotation kinetics using surfactant produced by Rhodococcus erythropolis as bioreagent. The flo

3. Influence of agitation intensity on flotation rate of apatite particles
Abstract The agitation intensity has a directly influence on flotation performance, lifting the particles and promoting the contact of bubbles and particles. In this paper, the energy input by the agitation on apatite flotation was investigated. The influence of pulp agitation in the flotation rate of particles with different sizes and two dosage levels was

4. Effect of dissolution kinetics on flotation response of calcite with oleate
Abstract Phosphate flotation performance can be influenced by the dissolution kinetics of the minerals that compose the ore. The purpose of this work was to investigate the effect of dissolution kinetics on flotation response with oleate (collector) of calcites from different origins and genesis. The calcite samples were first purified and characterized by x

5. Bioflotation of apatite and quartz: Particle size effect on the rate constant
This work deals with the fundamental aspects of apatite and quartz bioflotation using R. opacus bacteria as a bioreagent. It was observed that the flotability of both minerals depends on the pH value and the mineral particle size. The maximum flotability of both minerals was presented at a pH value of 5, achieving values of 90% and 14% for apatite and quartz

6. Mecanismo de flotação de partículas grossas em células mecânicas: influência das variáveis hidrodinâmicas e suas implicações cinéticas. / Mechanisms of coarse particle flotation in mechanical cell: influence of the hydrodynamic parameters and kinetics involvement.

7. REMOÇÃO DE PB, CR E CU POR PROCESSO COMBINADO DE BIOSSORÇÃO/BIOFLOTAÇÃO UTILIZANDO A CEPA RHODOCOCCUS OPACUS / REMOVAL OF PB, CR AND CU BY A COMBINED BIOSORPTION / BIOFLOTATION PROCESS USING A RHODOCOCCUS OPACUS STRAINT
This work evaluated the potential of the Rhodococcus opacus strain as a biosorbent for the removal of Pb(II), Cr(III) and Cu(II) from aqueous solutions by Biosorption/bioflotation process, through experimental batch tests. The operational parameters investigated in the biosorption´s stage were: pH of the solution, biomass concentration, contact time and ini

Giardia duodenalis is, today, considered serious problem of public health attacking individuals, independent of characteristics cultural or socioeconomic. To compare the kinetics of the infection and pathological alterations in the small intestine, produced by Giardia duodenalis, 72 gerbils, were divided in 6 groups (A to F), being A the control and the othe

The search for new technologies for the removal of hazardous metals from wastewater has been focused on several features for the biological materials as such: metal binding and flotation abilities. The aim of this work was to evaluate the biosorption and bioflotation abilities of Rhodococcus opacus for cadmium and zinc removal. Pre and post-characterizations

10. Modelling of the dispersed air flotation process applied to dairy wastewater treatment
The aim of this work was to develop a mathematical model for a continuously operating flotation tank to provide the scale-up and optimization of the separation system. The fluid dynamic of the tank was assumed to be a perfect mixture and the flotation kinetics to be a first-order reaction, as suggested by the batch operation. The experiments were carried out

12. Thylakoid membrane polypeptides of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii: wild-type and mutant strains deficient in photosystem II reaction center.
Unstacked thylakoid membrane vesicles were obtained from a homogenate of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii by flotation in a 1.8 M sucrose layer containing 5 mM HEPES (N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazine-N-2-ethanesulfonic acid)-10 mM EDTA (pH 7.5). Sodium dodecyl sulfate-gradient gel electrophoresis showed that the wildtype membranes have a total of at least 33 polypeptides
