1. Pueraria lobata Root Constituents as Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors and Protective Agents against Oxidative Stress Induced in GES-1 Cells
Ultrafiltration coupled with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was established to screen xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors from Pueraria lobata root extract. Four compounds were screened out and identified as puerarin, daidzin, daidzein and genistein with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 30.8, 5.31, 14.5 and 3.02 µg mL−1

3. Isoenzyme and molecular approach for authenticating and monitoring of animal cell lines
Abstract: Authentication of cell lines is of paramount importance to validate the results from their use in biomedical research. Although isoenzyme polymorphism is the standard method, molecular methods based on mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) have been developed to replace it. The aim of this study was the improvement of our isoenzyme electrophoretic analysis and

4. Lactate-upregulation of lactate oxidation complex-related genes is blunted in left ventricle of myocardial infarcted rats
Lactate modulates the expression of lactate oxidation complex (LOC)-related genes and cardiac blood flow under physiological conditions, but its modulatory role remains to be elucidated regarding pathological cardiac stress. The present study evaluated the effect of lactate on LOC-related genes expression and hemodynamics of hearts submitted to myocardial in

5. Optimization for extraction of an oil recipe consisting of white pepper, long pepper, cinnamon, saffron, and myrrh by supercritical carbon dioxide and the protective effects against oxygen–glucose deprivation in PC12 cells
ABSTRACT This study is to investigate the most efficient extractives of extracting oil recipe for stroke treatment and the protective effects on an oxygen and glucose deprivation model in PC12 cells. An orthogonal experimental design L9 (34) was carried out for oil recipe's optimization with supercritical CO2 fluid extraction. 2-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,

6. Long non-coding RNA-ROR aggravates myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, especially in myocardial infarction and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). However, the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we determined the role and the possible underlying molecular mechanism of lncRNA-ROR in myocardial I/R injury. H9c

8. Avaliação experimental do metabolismo energético em dois protocolos de sobrecarga sistólica do ventrículo direito / Experimental evaluation of energy metabolism in two right ventricle systolic overload protocols
Objective: Altered energy metabolism has been identified in myocardial hypertrophy. Some processes are considered beneficial, whereas others are linked to heart failure. The purpose of this study was to compare the activity of three different energy metabolism enzymes in two different protocols of right ventricle (RV) systolic overload in young goats. Method

9. A biosensor based on immobilization of lactate oxidase in a PB-CTAB film for FIA determination of lactate in beer samples

11. Influência do ácido orótico no metabolismo energético cardíaco de ratos
The functional cardiac performance is closely related to energetic metabolism. Studies have shown that the disarrangements usually associated to ischemia and reperfusion, such as ionic imbalance and impairment of contratiles proteins, are consequence of installed metabolic changes, associated with a reduction of ATP levels. Several experimental and clinical
