1. Synergy between Experimental and Theoretical Investigations Reveals the Anti‑Corrosion Efficiency of Imine-Chalcones
The inhibitory action of three imine-chalcones on carbon steel corrosion in HCl was investigated by theoretical and experimental methods. Quantum descriptors were calculated at the conductor-like polarizable continuum model (CPCM)-Becke-3 Parameter-Lee-Yang-Parr (B3LYP)-D3/def2-TZVPP level allowing the prediction of efficiency inhibition ranking. 2. Adsorption of Calcium(II), Cadmium(II) and Copper(II) Ions from Water by Prepared Silicon-Aluminum-Zirconium Oxide Using Sol-Gel Process
Ternary oxide silica-alumina-zirconia (SiO2/Al2O3/ZrO2) obtained by the sol-gel process was applied as novel adsorbent of ions in aqueous solution. Batch isotherms were performed using standard CuII, CdII and CaII solutions at variable pH and different concentrations. Adsorption capacity was best at weakly acidic pH. The maximum adsorption capacities were 2.

3. Aqueous Extract of Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata) Seeds as Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution
The corrosion inhibition of mild steel by aqueous extract of cumaru (Dipteryx odorata) seeds and its high molecular weight fraction (HMWF) was investigated in 1 mol L-1 HCl solution. The study was carried out through gravimetric essays, open circuit potential measurements, anodic and cathodic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance analyses, as wel

4. Synthesis and Characterization of Hybrid Polymer Based on Functionalized Silica as Efficient Adsorbent for Heavy Metal Ions from Aqueous Solution
An organic-inorganic hybrid material based on a silica matrix and functionalized with imidazole group was successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process. The characterization techniques enabled the confirmation of the proposed structure as well as the effectiveness of the imidazole ring functionality in the structure of the material. It is insoluble in wate

6. SYNTHESIS OF MATERIALS PRODUCED FROM SPENT BATTERIES WITH ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATION
In this work, alkaline and nickel-metal hydride spent batteries were used as precursors of metals for the synthesis of polymetallic materials. These materials were synthesized via chemical reduction. Materials produced from nickel-metal hydride spent batteries (PM-NiMH) have a nanometric size, whereas the alkaline spent batteries (PM-Alk) have a micrometric

8. CANTILEVER NANOBIOSENSOR BASED ON THE ENZYME UREASE FOR DETECTION OF HEAVY METALS
Abstract Cantilever nanobiosensors have emerged as an alternative to conventional methods of analysis to monitor heavy metals, which are being highlighted by detecting substances at the micro and nanoscale through the use of sensor layers. In the present study, a new cantilever nanobiosensor was developed functionalized with urease enzyme by self-assembled m

9. Experimental and Computational Studies of the Adsorption of Furan, Pyrrole, and Thiophene on Hydroxyapatites in a Single and Ternary Component
Non-doped (Hap) and doped hydroxyapatites with Cu2+ and Fe2+ were synthesized and used to study the adsorption of furan (Fur), pyrrole (Pyr), and thiophene (Thi) in single and ternary component systems. Spectroscopic data and N2 isotherms indicated there were no structural alterations in Hap with the incorporation of Cu2+ and Fe2+. For both single and ternar

10. Preparation and application of Zero Valent Iron immobilized in Activated Carbon for removal of hexavalent Chromium from synthetic effluent

11. Additive manufacturing of titanium alloy could modify the pathogenic microbial profile: an in vitro study
Abstract Additive manufacturing (AM) is an emerging process for biomaterials and medical devices. Direct Laser Metal Sintering (DLMS) is an AM technique used to fabricate Ti–6Al–4V implant materials with enhanced surface-related properties compared with wrought samples; thus, this technique could influence microbial adsorption and colonization. Therefore

12. New Strategies in Enantioselective Hydrogenation on Supported Transition Metal Catalyst: Effects of Metal Sintering and Support Swelling
The effect of noble metal catalysts supported on an ionic exchange resin for the enantioselective hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate to ethyl lactate was studied. High activity and moderate enantioselectivity levels were obtained. Pt was the best enantioselective metallic phase, followed by Pd and Au; Rh was the less enantioselective metallic phase. The effect
