1. Study of friction stir spot welding on AA6063 aluminium alloy used in the ship building industry
ABSTRACT Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a novel process of metal joining. In the present work, the authors analysed the possibility of using this process to solve current problems in shipbuilding industry regarding small vessels by replacing the current arc welding techniques with the aforementioned process. Numerical simulation was carried out by the

5. Transporte atômico e reação química em nanoestruturas TiN e TiN/Ti em aço nitretado a plasma
The use of cutting tools in progressively more severe conditions in the metal-mechanics industry and the requirement to increase tool life against friction, wear and high temperature corrosion made of surface treatments an important protection method. One of the most modern treatments is the so-called duplex, that consists of plasma nitriding and deposition

8. ANALYSIS AND MODELING OF WET WELDS FATIGUE PROPERTIES / ANÁLISE E MODELAGEM DE PROPRIEDADES MECÂNICAS Á FADIGA DE SOLDAS MOLHADAS
The trend currently observed in the oil exploration industry is prodominantly geared towards the development of low-cost repair techniques. An example of this trend is the wet welding process used used in underwater repairs, at considerably lower costs that those incurred when using the traditional dry hyperbaric welding system. The objective of this work is

9. Hard Metal Disease
In Great Britain there have been no published reports of respiratory disease occurring amongst workers in the hard metal (tungsten carbide) industry. In this paper the clinical and radiological findings in six cases and the pathological findings in one are described. In two cases physiological studies indicated mild alveolar diffusion defects. Histological e

10. Occupational lead exposure in Denmark: screening with the haematofluorometer.
The zinc protoporphyrin/haemoglobin (ZPP/Hb) ratio was measured in the field with a haematofluorometer. A significant increase in ZPP/Hb ratio with advancing age was found in 1295 men who denied any excess exposure to lead. Ninety-seven per cent of the results were below 110 mumol ZPP/mol Hb(Fe) (4.4 microgram ZPP/g Hb). The ZPP/Hb ratio was determined in a

11. Bladder cancer and occupation: a case-control study in northern Italy.
OBJECTIVES--A hospital based case-control study was conducted between 1992 and 1993 in the province of Brescia, a highly industrialised area in northern Italy, to evaluate occupational risk factors of bladder cancer. METHODS--The study evaluated 355 histologically confirmed cases of bladder cancer (275 men, 80 women) and 579 controls affected by urological n
