2. Influence of a hydrophobic monomer on the physical and mechanical properties of experimental surface sealants
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of adding the hydrophobic monomer 1,12 dodecanediol dimethacrylate (DDDMA) to experimental sealants with and without thermocycling on degree of conversion (DC), water sorption (WS), water solubility (WSB), color stability (ΔE), and micro-shear bond strength (μSBS). Five experimental and one commercially available se

3. Pre-sintered Y-TZP sandblasting: effect on surface roughness, phase transformation, and Y-TZP/veneer bond strength
Abstract Sandblasting is a common method to try to improve the Y-TZP/veneer bond strength of dental prostheses, however, it may put stress on zirconia surfaces and could accelerate the t→m phase transformation. Y-TZP sandblasting before sintering could be an alternative to improve surface roughness and bonding strength of veneering ceramic. Objectives. Th

4. Evaluation of pH, ultimate tensile strength, and micro-shear bond strength of two self-adhesive resin cements
The aim of this study was to evaluate the pH, ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and micro-shear bond strength (µSBS) of two self-adhesive resin cements to enamel and dentin. Sound bovine incisors (n = 10) and two self-adhesive resin cements (i.e., RelyX U-100 and seT PP) were used. The pH of the resin cements was measured using a pH-indicator paper (n = 3).

5. Micro-shear bond strength and surface micromorphology of a feldspathic ceramic treated with different cleaning methods after hydrofluoric acid etching
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of feldspathic ceramic surface cleaning on micro-shear bond strength and ceramic surface morphology. Material and Methods: Forty discs of feldspathic ceramic were prepared and etched with 10% hydrofluoric acid for 2 minutes. The discs were randomly distributed into five groups (n=8): C: no tre

6. Influence of surface treatment on shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets

7. Avaliação da resistência de união ao microcisalhamento e grau de conversão de cimentos resinosos com a utilização de diferentes protocolos adesivos / Effect of the adhesive protocol on micro shear bond strength and degree of conversion among different resin cement and ceramic
A comparison between torsion and wire-loop shear bond strength tests
Objective: verify, by finite element analysis (FEA) and laboratorial tests, if the torsion bond strength test is able to lead adhesive interface to fracture under shear stress and if it would be more advantageous than wire-loop shear test. Material and method: for stress analysis by finite element method, the 3D models of both tests consisted of a resin comp
