1. Steel desulfurization on RH degasser: physical and mathematical modeling
Abstract Due to the high-quality steel demand, especially for ultra-low Sulfur steel, RH desulfurization has been practiced. Based on this, mathematical and physical modeling have been applied to study steel desulfurization by reagent addition in the RH degasser vacuum chamber. The main result of cold modeling, using water and oil emulating steel and slag, r

2. SUCROSE CRYSTALLIZATION: MODELING AND EVALUATION OF PRODUCTION RESPONSES TO TYPICAL PROCESS FLUCTUATIONS
Abstract This work describes a phenomenological model of the two-massecuite system for sucrose crystallization, developed using EMSO software. In most Brazilian sugarcane industries, sucrose crystallization is performed using this system. This process is considered to be a fundamental step in obtaining sugar of the desired quality and accounts for a substant

4. Valuing flexibility in electro-intensive industries: the case of an aluminum smelter
Abstract Electro-intensive industries account for a significant proportion of the total industrial electricity consumption, and these industries usually possess co-generation assets, which can supply at least part of their energy needs. However, due to price uncertainty, it may be optimal for the firm to temporarily suspend production and sell the available

5. MODELING AND SIMULATION OF THE EFFECT OF THE FIRING CURVE ON THE LINEAR SHRINKAGE OF CERAMIC MATERIALS: LABORATORY SCALE AND INDUSTRIAL SCALE
AbstractSingle-cycle firing is currently the most widespread method used for the production of ceramic tile. The productivity is directly related to the performance of the constituent materials of the ceramic piece during thermal cycling. Numerical tools which allow the prediction of the material behavior may be of great help in the optimization of this stag

6. Noise Source Distribution of Coaxial Subsonic Jet-Short-Cowl Nozzle
ABSTRACT: The noise source distribution of a short-cowl coaxial jet operating at different velocity ratios is described in this work. This was motivated by an ongoing research about noise prediction of coaxial jets through Acoustic Analogy with purposes of industrial engine application. This research has been carried out between Universidade Federal de Uberl

7. Daily counting of manufactured units sent for quality control: a bayesian approach
This paper presents the statistical modeling for daily counting statistics of units that arrive for quality inspection at a food company. Different Poisson regression models were considered in order to analyze the data collected, with a Bayesian focus. The main objective was to forecast the daily average count based on co-variables such as days of the week.

8. Produção de lipopeptídeos e glicolipídeos a partir da bioconversão do co-produto da produção do biodiesel / Production of lipopeptides and glycolipids from the bioconversion of co-product of biodiesel production process

Soybean and its derivatives have the desired properties for food either for humans or various animals because of its high protein content, which is associated to a good balance of amino acids. However, when the protein is hydrolyzed into smaller peptides, the nutritional value can increase further. A product with high nutritional value added but which does n

10. Modelagem e simulação de processos (corte, carregamento e transporte) na produção agrícola de açúcar e álcool / Modeling and simulation of processes (cutting, loading and transportation) in agricultural production of sugar and alcohol
Es
