1. Optimal hydrated lime concentration in asphalt binder to improve photo degradation resistance
Abstract The effect of short-term oxidation, evaluated by using a Rolling Thin Film Oven Test, and the effect of weathering aging on the oxidation process of hydrated lime modified asphalts were studied. Hydrated lime (HL) has been known as an additive for asphalt mixtures and is now considered as a binder additive that increases asphalt mixture durability.

2. Modification of thermal and rheological behavior of asphalt binder by the addition of an ethylene-methyl acrylate-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer and polyphosphoric acid
Abstract This study evaluated the modification effects of adding ethylene-methyl acrylate-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer (EMGMA) in the presence of polyphosphoric acid (PPA) to an asphalt binder graded as 50/70 (0.1mm) in the Brazilian penetration grade specification (AC 50/70). The EMGMA terpolymer has been presented as a new alternative to modify asphalt

3. Effects of Sasobit® content on the rheological characteristics of unaged and aged asphalt binders at high and intermediate temperatures
This paper describes the rheological properties of PG64, PG70, and PG76 asphalt binders blended with different Sasobit® contents. The rheological properties of the Sasobit®-modified binders were characterized after being subjected to different aging conditions using the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) and rotational viscometer (RV) according to SuperpaveTM t

4. Asphalt binders modified by SBS and SBS/nanoclays: effect on rheological properties

5. Caracterização do comportamento fluência-recuperação de ligantes asfálticos modificados virgens e envelhecidos / Characterization of the creep-recovery behavior of unaged and short-term aged modified asphalt binders

Performance evaluation of asphalt binder modified poly (phosphoric acid) (PPA) and effects adding the liquid from the bark of cashew (LCC)
The AC with 50/70 penetration grade (Petrobras - LUBNOR), pure and modified by polyphosphoric acid (PPA), was analyzed by rheological tests (viscosity and DSR), thermal analysis (TGA and DSC), spectrometric (NMR and FTIR) and chromatographic (TLC-FID and GPC) methods. The interaction of AC with PPA was investigated from the reactions of its fractions (aromat

The asphalt cement plays a major role in hot mix asphalts (HMA) by bonding the mineral aggregates and conferring impermeability. Despite the relatively small percentage of asphalt cement in hot mixes, the mechanical properties of asphalt layers are highly dependent on the quality of the binder. The physical and rheological properties of asphalt binders can b

In Brazil, the annual production of waste tires is in the order of 40 million units, with an estimated tire disposal of at least 25 million units per year. According to statistics of the National Association of Tire Industry, 100 million of useless tires are spread around the country in landfills, vacant land, rivers and lakes, causing enormous environment d
