1. Methodology for monitoring voltage SAGs and SWELLs in power systems. / Metodologia para a monitoração eficiente de variações de tensão de curta duração em sistemas elétricos de potência.
This dissertation presents a methodology based on Genetic Algorithms and Fuzzy Mathematical Programming to determine the optimum number of power quality monitors and the locations they should be installed to measure Voltage Sags and Swells in transmission power networks. The methodology developed represents a tool for planning power networks, because it indi

2. O envolvimento do aluno no processo de ensino - aprendizagem durante a realização de atividades experimentais.
This work had as an objective to identify the motivation level of the students who belong to three public grade schools in the city of São Carlos with different socio-economical realities for the chemistry learning. Experimental activities were developed with the main objective of promoting the students interaction with their friends and teachers. During th

3. Magnetic localization of neuronal activity in the human brain.
The performance of a cryogenic system that monitors the extracranial magnetic field simultaneously at 14 positions over the scalp has been evaluated to determine the accuracy with which neuronal activity can be located within the human brain. Initially, measurements were implemented on two model systems, a lucite sphere filled with saline and a model skull.

4. Common and distinct tubulin binding sites for microtubule-associated proteins.
A specific binding assay was developed that monitors the interaction of 125I-labeled microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) with tubulin or its fragments bound to nitrocellulose membrane. To identify the tubulin-binding domains for MAPs we have examined the binding of rat brain 125I-labeled MAP2 or 125I-labeled tau factors to 60 peptides derived from porcine

5. Stability of lipid vesicles in tissues of the mouse: a gamma-ray perturbed angular correlation study.
The rate of phospholipid vesicle disruption in specific tissues of the mouse was followed by gamma-ray perturbed angular correlation (PAC) spectroscopy. In these studies, high levels of 111In-nitrilotriacetic acid complex are contained in unilamellar vesicles consisting of distearoyl phosphatidylcholine, cholesterol, and small amounts of other lipids which m
