1. Enhancement patterns of adrenal nodules on magnetic resonance imaging
ABSTRACT Objective: To compare enhancement patterns of typical adrenal adenomas, lipid-poor adenomas, and non-adenomas on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Materials and Methods: Evaluation of adrenal nodules larger than 1.0 cm, with at least 2-year follow-up, evaluated on MRI in January 2007 and December 2016. Two different protocols were included - upper

2. Agro-Industrial Waste Valorization: Transformation of Starch from Mango Kernel into Biocompatible, Thermoresponsive and High Swelling Nanogels
Mango industry processing disposes 40-60% of this fruit as residues, such as peels and kernels. The exploration of bioproducts from these industrial rejects can reduce environmental impact besides of producing high value-added materials. In this scenario, carboxymethyl starch nanoparticles were produced from mango (Mangifera indica L.) kernel starch. These n

4. Development of an Extraction Protocol for Fetal Sexing from the Fourth Week of Gestation by Real Time PCR
Abstract Low number of fetal cells in maternal blood limited the use of fetal materials in diagnostic and clinical applications. This research developed a technology which allowed the extraction of fetal DNA by a non-invasive method that offers no risk to the mother or fetus. A total of 132 pregnant women participated in this inquiry. The DNA extraction was

5. Continuous Scanning Technique with Barkhausen Magnetic Noise for Carbon Steel Sheets
This work studies the application of a Non-Destructive Inspection Technique (NDIT), based on the Magnetic Barkhausen Noise (MBN), for the detection of non-homogeneous regions in carbon steel plates. It presents the advances in the development of a variant of a new non-destructive magnetic test technique, called Continuous Scanning Magnetic Barkhausen Noise (

7. Experimental Magnetometer Calibration for Nanosatellites’ Navigation System
ABSTRACT This article deals with the problem of Earth’s magnetic field sensors calibration in the context of low-cost nanosatellites’ navigation systems. The attitude of space vehicles can be determined from the state estimation using information from three-axis inertial and non-inertial sensors. This study considers a three-axis solid-state magnetometer

8. The value of magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of penile fracture
Purpose We studied the use of magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of penile fracture. Materials and Methods Between 1997 and 2012, fifteen patients (age range 17-48 years, mean age 37 years) with suspected penile fracture underwent MRI examinations. Ten patients were injured during sexual intercourse, whereas four patients were traumatized by non-ph

10. Caracterização de rejeitos de minério de ferro para uso em pavimentação / Characterization of iron ore tailings for use in paving
In this work it was carried out a series of laboratory tests towards chemical, mineralogical and geotechnical characterization of rejects from iron ore processing, for use in paving. Material sampling was done in specific points as they were generated during the beneficiation process along the cycle, in order to preserve their properties. The alternative app

12. Quitosana modificada quimicamente atraves de cloretos organicos e o uso como fonte em remoção cationica / Chitosan chemically modified with organic chlorides and the use as source in cationic removal
The biopolymer chitosan was submitted to a series of reactions, with the purpose to explore the free amino group reactivity polymeric chain through reactions involving organic chlorides and primary amines compounds. Isophthaloyl dichloride and cyanuric chloride were used in the modifications, following by reactions with ethylenediamine or diethylenetriamine.
