1. A simulation model to evaluate the economic consequences of insemination programs in dairy herds: timed artificial insemination and sex-sorted semen
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to develop a simulation model to analyse the technical, economic, and financial performance of using different reproductive strategies in dairy herds. Strategies simulated were: artificial insemination (AI) using conventional semen after oestrus detection (AIC), AI using sex-sorted semen after oestrus detection (AIS),

3. Inseminação artificial intra-uterina transcervical assistida por endoscopia em cadelas da raça Retriever do Labrador
The aims of the present study were to describe endoscopic transcervical intrauterine artificial insemination (AI) technique in bitches, investigate its viability and difficulties; evaluate pregnancy rate and litter size; and evaluate behavioral and reproductive parameters, as vaginal cytology and serum progesterone assays, to determine time of insemination.

4. Efeitos do fornecimento de dietas contendo nitrogênio não-protéico(NNP) sem prévia adaptação, durante curto espaço de tempo e em diferentes fases do ciclo estral na produção, qualidade e grau de desenvolvimento de embriões de fêmeas bovinas superovuladas / Effect of short term non-protein nitrogen (NPN) feeding to superovulated beef cows without previous adaptation, at different periods of the oestrus cycle on yield, quality and development degree of recovered embryos
High levels of crude protein (CP) in ruminant diets were associated with detrimental effect on fertility, mainly, due to the rise of plasmatic urea nitrogen (PUN) concentration. The aim of this study was to verify the effects of short term non-protein nitrogen feeding at different periods of the oestrus cycle in superovulated cows without previous adaptation

5. Puberty in gilts: I - Use of exogen gonadotrophin (eCG and LH) on the induction and synchronization of first oestrus. II - Effects of flushing on the oestrus cycle before first conception. III - Evaluation of the reproductive performance until first parturition / Puberdade em marrãs: I - Efeito das gonadotrofinas na indução e sincronização do estro à puberdade. II - Efeito do "flushing" alimentar no ciclo anterior à primeira concepção. III - Avaliação da eficiência produtiva e reprodutiva das marrãs até 1º parto
The objective of the study was to investigate in a biotecnical program applied in a commercial breeding unit, the effects of the gonadotrophins (eCG and LH) on puberty estrus inductions and synchronization in gilts followed by their ciclicity. The investigation included the use of flushing on preceding oestrus cycle to first artificial insemination (IA). The

6. Reproductive aspects of the mocó female (Kerodon rupestris): fetal fluids biochemistry and characterization of the estrous cicle by vaginal cytology. / Aspectos reprodutivos da fêmea de mocó (Kerodon rupestris): análise bioquímica dos líquidos fetais e caracterização colpocitológica do ciclo estral.
The aim of the present work was to study some reproductives aspects of mocó female (Kerodon rupestris), by assesment of the following parameters: certain biochemical characteristics of fetal fluids and characterization of the estrous cycle by exfoliative colpocytology. In order to establish the levels of the following parameters: osmolarity, pH, calcium, ph

7. Effects of the oestrous cycle on the metabolism of arachidonic acid in rat isolated lung.
1. The metabolism of exogenous arachidonic acid perfused through the pulmonary circulation was investigated in lungs taken from rats at different stages of the oestrous cycle. 2. Following perfusion with [14C]arachidonic acid there was more radioactivity associated with cyclo-oxygenase products in general at pro-oestrus than at any other stage of the cycle.

9. Surface features of exfoliated vaginal epithelial cells during the oestrous cycle of the rat examined by scanning electron microscopy.
The purpose of this study was to document vaginal exfoliative cytology (smears) as seen with the scanning electron microscope during the first, hormonally induced oestrous cycle of PMS-LH treated immature rats and to compare it with the surface morphology of the intact vaginal wall of similarly treated rats. Exfoliated cells were obtained by vaginal lavage 7

10. Myometrial activity in rats during the oestrous cycle and pseudopregnancy: interaction of oestradiol and progesterone.
1. Oestradiol 17 beta inhibits the rat myometrium but the role of progesterone is uncertain. We have examined the interaction of the two steroids in the control of uterine activity in pseudopregnancy and the oestrous cycle. 2. Progesterone reversed the oestradiol-induced inhibition of the myometrium in ovariectomized rats in vivo, but had little inhibitory e

11. The effect of exogenous gonadotropic hormones on the endometrium of the rat.
This investigation examined the effects of hyperstimulation on the uterine endometrium of rats. Female rats were injected, out of cycle, with FSH followed by hCG and mated. Control rats were mated during oestrus. Animals were killed at 5.5 days of pregnancy. The endometrium was examined by light and electron microscopy. Hyperstimulation resulted in an increa

12. Spontaneous electrical and contractile activity correlated to 86Rb+ efflux in smooth muscle of guinea-pig mesotubarium.
1. The spontaneous mechanical activity of guinea-pig mesotubarium consists of fused tetanic contractions lasting about 6 min, with a frequency of about four per hour. The muscle is completely relaxed between the contractions. Stretching the relaxed muscle elicits a contraction of the same appearance as the spontaneous ones. Comparison of preparations from oe
