1. Investigation of Austenitic Stainless Steel Coatings on Mild Steel Produced by Friction Surfacing Using a Conventional CNC Machining Center
The friction surfacing process allows deposition of similar and dissimilar coatings in the solid state, avoiding some of the problems associated with conventional coating methods in which fusion is involved. In the present work, a viability assessment of producing AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel coatings on AISI 1020 low-carbon steel substrates using a m

2. Synthesis, Photophysical and Electrochemical Properties of Novel D-π-D and D-π-A Triphenylamino-Chalcones and β-Arylchalcones
A series of triphenylamino (TPA)-chalcones and triphenylamino-β-arylchalcones, displaying either D-π-D or D-π-A architecture, were synthesized through aldol condensations and Heck reactions. The chalcone derivatives display intense absorption bands ranging from 389 to 432 nm and molar extinction coefficients of ca. 105 L mol-1 cm-1 corresponding to π-π*

3. Synthesis, Characterization and in vitro Antioxidant Activity of New Chiral N-boc Organotellurium Compounds, (CH3)3OC(O)NHCH(R)C(O)NHCH2-CH2Te-C6H4-4-OCH3, Containing Carbamate and Peptide Groups
Synthesis, characterization and antioxidant activity of a new series of chiral N-boc oraganotellurium compounds, (CH3)3OC(O)NHCH(R)C(O)NHCH2CH2Te-C6H4-4-OCH3, containing carbamate and peptide groups have been reported in this paper. These chiral peptides were synthesized in good to excellent yields, via acid-amine coupling reaction of N-boc L-amino acids wit

4. Biofilm inhibition activity of compounds isolated from two Eunicea species collected at the Caribbean Sea
Abstract Biofilm has a primary role in the pathogenesis of diseases and in the attachment of multicellular organisms to a fouled surface. Because of that, the control of bacterial biofilms has been identified as an important target. In the present study, five lipid compounds isolated from soft coral Eunicea sp. and three terpenoids together with a mixture of

6. Efecto del procedimiento de soldadura por FSW en la evolución temporal de las propiedades en uniones de AA 7075-T651
It was studied the effect of the welding procedure on the temporal evolution of the mechanical properties in AA 7075-T651 friction stir welded joints. To vary the heat input samples with different parameters (rotation and welding speed) were welded. Thermal cycles were acquired by means of thermocouples instrumented on the samples, obtaining the heat input f

7. Production and characterization of PHA from recombinant E. coli harbouring phaC1 gene of indigenous Pseudomonas sp. LDC-5 using molasses
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are biodegradable and biocompatible green thermoplastics, synthesized by wide variety of bacteria as an intracellular carbon and energy storage intermediate. They are used as an alternative to nonrenewable petroleum derived plastics. The current interest in these biopolyesters is stimulated by the search for cost-effective capital

8. Etnobotánica, anatomía y caracterización físico-química del aceite esencial de Baccharis obovata Hook. et Arn. (Asteraceae: Astereae)
Baccharis obovata Hook. et Arn. is an aromatic species known as "wautro", and is an important part of the Mapuche herbolarium of Patagonia Argentina. The objectives were to investigate its ethnobotany and shoot anatomy, as well as to characterize physically and chemically its essential oil. Rural informant-interviews were conducted in two Mapuche communities

9. Caracterização de junta soldada por atrito linear com mistura (FSW) da liga Al-Mg-Si AA 6063. / Friction stir welded joint characterization of 6063 aluminum alloy.
Friction Stir Welding process arose from a desire to apply the principles and benefits of traditional solid state friction welding friction in non axi-symmetric geometries. Thus, it was added a traveling speed and a special rotating tool that allows welding aluminum alloys with bad weldability. The key factor to have a linear friction welding with sound bead

10. Efeitos de tamanho finito e interface em nanopartículas e nanocolóides magnéticos
In this work, we investigated magnetic nanoparticles based on copper ferrite, with mean sizes ranging between 3,5 nm e 10,7 nm. Such nanomaterials are chemically synthesized by hydrothermal coprecipitation and allow elaborating magnetic nanocolloids in aqueous and acidic medium thanks to a core-shell strategy that prevent the nanoparticles from dissolution.

In this work Candida antarctica lipase (CAL-B) was used in the resolution of the ()-citronellol and ()-citronellic acid, by enantioselective esterification. Chiral terpenic acids and alcohols are excellent building blocks for the preparation of more complex molecules with possible biological activities. The ()-citronellic acid has been used as the base mater
