1. Quitosana modificada quimicamente atraves de cloretos organicos e o uso como fonte em remoção cationica / Chitosan chemically modified with organic chlorides and the use as source in cationic removal
The biopolymer chitosan was submitted to a series of reactions, with the purpose to explore the free amino group reactivity polymeric chain through reactions involving organic chlorides and primary amines compounds. Isophthaloyl dichloride and cyanuric chloride were used in the modifications, following by reactions with ethylenediamine or diethylenetriamine.

2. O cotidiano dos funcionários de um instituto médico legal frente à morte: uma leitura a partir da bioética personalista / The daily routine of Forensics Workers towards Death: a personalistic bioethics view
This is a qualitative research that aimed to understand the experience of workers in the universe of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Londrina-PR. The three objectives were to analyze the experiences of these workers with death, identify the challenges sprung from this work and their perceptions about humanization in their daily work process at the work

3. Modelo de verificação de processos de negocios atraves de uma maquina virtual Pi-Calculos
Two important areas have been in development lately: Business Process Management and Web Service Orchestration. In both of them, the objective is to integrate applications with web services interface through business process paradigm. A number of languages have been proposed with consensus being formed around BPEL (Business Process Execution Language). This

4. PROCESSOS DE PRECIPITAÇÃO POR REAÇÕES DE ORDEM NUMA SUPERLIGA À BASE DE NÍQUEL (59-23CR-16MO) / EFFECTS OF PRECIPITATION PROCESSES INDUCED BY ORDERING REACTIONS IN A NICKEL BASE SUPERALLOY (59-23 CR-16 MO)
The nickel base superalloy, 59-23Cr-16Mo, was developed in the nineties and has since been used in chemical and petrochemical industries as well as in equipment for environmental control. The alloy has, occasionally, been presenting problems of pit corrosion in the heat affected zones (HAZ) of welded joints. With the purpose of elucidating the mechanisms ass

5. Spatial patterns and double diffusion in chemical reactions
Spatial ordering has been observed recently during various photochemical reactions. Convoluted concentration bands first appear near the surface of shallow irradiated solutions. They thereafter extend into the bulk, and finger-like structures spontaneously develop. We discuss here the possible role of double-diffusion effects in the onset of this phenomenon.

6. Light-induced Changes in the Conformation and Configuration of the Thylakoid Membrane of Ulva and Porphyra Chloroplasts in Vivo
The ultrastructural basis of light-induced transmission and light scattering changes of thalli of Ulva and Porphyra were investigated by high resolution electron microscopy and microdensitometry. The results show that upon illumination of dark thalli (a) a reduction in thickness of thylakoid membranes (conformational change), (b) a more regular ordering, and

7. Protein dynamics and reaction rates: mode-specific chemistry in large molecules?
Reactive events in proteins may be strongly coupled to a few specific modes of protein motion or they may couple nonspecifically to the dense continuum of protein and solvent modes. We summarize the evidence that at least some biologically important reactions can be described in terms of a few specific modes, and we propose experiments to quantify the streng

8. Fine-mapping of shotgun template-libraries; an efficient strategy for the systematic sequencing of genomic DNA.
To test the effectiveness of ordering shotgun DNA-templates prior to sequence analysis, the 450 kb left arm of yeast chromosome XII was randomly subcloned into a phagemid vector. Clones were ordered by hybridisation to an average map density of one new insert every 125 bp and are currently used for sequencing the chromosomal fragment. An 11.5 kb overlap betw

9. Critical Role for the Histone H4 N Terminus in Nucleosome Remodeling by ISWI
The ATPase ISWI can be considered the catalytic core of several multiprotein nucleosome remodeling machines. Alone or in the context of nucleosome remodeling factor, the chromatin accessibility complex (CHRAC), or ACF, ISWI catalyzes a number of ATP-dependent transitions of chromatin structure that are currently best explained by its ability to induce nucleo

10. Mechanisms of membrane toxicity of hydrocarbons.
Microbial transformations of cyclic hydrocarbons have received much attention during the past three decades. Interest in the degradation of environmental pollutants as well as in applications of microorganisms in the catalysis of chemical reactions has stimulated research in this area. The metabolic pathways of various aromatics, cycloalkanes, and terpenes i
