1. Utilização de sílica mesoporosa como adjuvante em vacinas de vesícula de membrana externa de Neisseria meningitidis / Application of mesoporous silica as a vaccine adjuvant in the outer membrane vesicles vaccination of Neisseria meningitidis
Outer membrane vesicles or OMV are nanoparticles released into the culture medium during bacterial growth resulting from evaginations of the outer membrane. The OMV consists of antigens present in the bacterial outer membrane, like porins and lipooligosaccharides - LOS, these structures provide an immuno-stimulatory effect, and potential target for vaccine p

2. Comparison of dot-ELISA and standard ELISA for detection of Neisseria meningitidis outer membrane complex-specific antibodies
Dot-ELISA using the outer membrane complex antigens of Neisseria meningitidis as a target was standardized for rapid detection of meningococcal-specific antibodies in human serum. We investigated the level of meningococcal-specific IgG, IgA, and IgM in serum using dot-ELISA with outer membrane antigens prepared from Neisseria meningitidis serotype B:4.19:P1.

3. Study of immunogenicity of Neisseria lactamica antigens: use of monoclonal antibodies. / Estudo da imunogenicidade de antígenos de Neisseria lactamica: utilização de anticorpos monoclonais.
Immunological and epidemiological evidences suggest that the development of natural immunity to meningogoccal disease may be associated with crossreactive antigens together with Neisseria meningitidis and other commensal bacteria, like Neisseria lactamica. The present study aimed to investigate the immunogenicity of antigens of outer membrane vesicles (OMV)

4. Neisseria meningitidis antigens immune response study: toxoid as mice model adjuvant encapsulated in liposomes. / Estudo da imunogenicidade de antígenos de Neisseria meningitidis: utilização de toxóide como adjuvante, vetorizado em lipossomas, no modelo camundongo.
N.meningitidis is diplococcus gram-negative strict human patogen that similarly to other bacteria are surrounded by external membrane with lipids, proteins (OMP) and LPS. It has been one of the main causes of the meningitidis and other invading infections in the world. This work searched to use STX2 toxoid of E.coli as adjuvant for a possible and future vacc

5. Nasal immunization with outer membrane antigens of Neisseria meningitidis B selected for the highest expression of the immunotype of LPS 3,7,9 with monoclonal antibodies and Bordetella pertussis as adjuvants in neonates mice. / Imunização nasal com antígenos de membrana externa de Neisseria meningitidis B selecionados para a maior expressão do imunotipo de LPS 3, 7, 9 com anticorpos monoclonais e Bordetella pertussis como adjuvante em camundongos neonatos.
The natural habitat of Neisseria meningitidis is the human nasopharynx, and the bacterium is transmitted by direct mouth-to-mouth contact or by the inhalation of released mucous particles during close contact. N meningitidis is a Gram-negative bacterium responsible for significant mortality worldwide. While effective polysaccharide-based vaccines exist again

6. Expression of class 5 antigens by meningococcal strains obtained from patients in Brazil and evaluation of two new monoclonal antibodies
Determining the profile of antigen expression among meningococci is important for epidemiologic surveillance and vaccine development. To this end, two new mouse monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) have been derived against Neisseria meningitidis proteins (class 5). The MAbs were reactive against outer membrane antigens and were bactericidal. Selected anti-class 5 M

7. Type-specific antigens of group A Neisseria meningitidis: lipopolysaccharide and heat-modifiable outer membrane proteins.
The solid-phase radioimmunoassay inhibition method was used to analyze the noncapsular surface antigens of group A Neisseria meningitidis for type specificity. By use of antisera prepared against group A strains, three serologically distinct lipopolysaccharide antigens and five outer membrane protein antigens were identified among group A strains from a vari

8. Outer membrane antigens of Neisseria meningitidis group B serotype 2 studied by crossed immunoelectrophoresis.
This study shows that the capsular polysaccharide, protein, and lipopolysaccharide antigens from the outer membrane of Neisseria meningitidis group B serotype 2 may be identified by crossed immunoelectrophoresis. By using this technique, seven precipitates were resolved when outer membrane preparations were reacted against goat anti-whole cell group B type 2

9. Expression of Heterologous Antigens in Commensal Neisseria spp.: Preservation of Conformational Epitopes with Vaccine Potential
Commensal neisseriae share with Neisseria meningitidis (meningococcus) a tendency towards overproduction of the bacterial outer envelope, leading to the formation and release during growth of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). OMVs from both meningococci and commensal neisseriae have shown promise as vaccines to protect against meningococcal disease. We report

10. Preparation and crossed immunoelectrophoretic analysis of cytoplasmic and outer membrane fractions from Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Cell envelopes were obtained from lysates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, colony type T1, prepared with lysozyme, ethylenediaminetetraacetate, and Brij 58. This preparation was separated into cytoplasmic (inner) and outer membrane fractions by equilibrium sucrose density gradient centrifugation. The former fraction was 10-fold enriched in L-lactate dehydrogenase a

11. Outer membrane protein antigens in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for Salmonella enteric fever and meningococcal meningitis.
Outer membrane protein preparations were obtained from strains of Salmonella and Neisseria meningitidis. Solubilized cell envelope (CE) fractions from S. typhi and Salmonella groups A, B, C, and E had very similar electrophoretic mobilities on polyacrylamide gel, and common antigens were demonstrated by immunodiffusion. CE appeared to be a more satisfactory

12. Outer-membrane protein and lipopolysaccharide serotyping of Neisseria meningitidis by inhibition of a solid-phase radioimmunoassay.
A new procedure involving inhibition of a solid-phase radioimmunoassay was developed for specific determination of the outer-membrane protein and the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) serotypes of meningococci. Antigen was allowed to bind to the wells of a polyvinyl microtiter plate and then reacted with a limiting amount of homologous antibody which had been preincu
