1. The Protective Effect of Kaempferol Against Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury Through Activating SIRT3 to Inhibit Oxidative Stress
Abstract Introduction: The objective of this study is to investigate the protective effect of kaempferol against ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: H9C2 cells were pretreated with kaempferol for 24 hours and further insulted with IR injury. Cell vitality, reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, glutathione (GSH)

2. A systematic review of hormone levels, biomarkers of cellular injury and oxidative stress in multi-stressor military field training exercises
ABSTRACT The fundamental objective of military field training exercises (FTX) is to prepare military personnel for real-life operations through simulated scenarios. These training sessions often require extreme physical efforts with prolonged, high-intensity exercises that can be combined with food restrictions and partial, or total, sleep deprivation. Such

3. Antioxidant Actions of Thymoquinone, Silymarin, and Curcumin on Experimental Aortic Ischemia-Reperfusion Model in Wistar Albino Rats
ABSTRACT Introduction: Medical improvements are needed to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury in thoracoabdominal aortic surgery. The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidant effects of thymoquinone, silymarin, and curcumin against ischemia-reperfusion injury associated with abdominal aorta. Methods: Twenty-five Wistar albino rats were included i

4. Dexmedetomidine Leads to the Mitigation of Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion-Induced Acute Lung Injury in Diabetic Rats Via Modulation of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1α
ABSTRACT Introduction: The objective of this study is to investigate the protective mechanism of dexmedetomidine (Dex) in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MIR)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) of diabetic rats by inhibiting hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α). Methods: Initially, healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were treated with streptozocin to induce d

5. Pueraria lobata Root Constituents as Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors and Protective Agents against Oxidative Stress Induced in GES-1 Cells
Ultrafiltration coupled with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was established to screen xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors from Pueraria lobata root extract. Four compounds were screened out and identified as puerarin, daidzin, daidzein and genistein with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 30.8, 5.31, 14.5 and 3.02 µg mL−1

7. Tea Grape Reduces Abdominal Aortic Occlusion-Induced Lung Injury
Abstract Introduction: Ischemia-associated mortality caused by aortic cross-clamps, as in ruptured abdominal aorta aneurysm surgeries, and reperfusion following their removal represent some of the main emergency conditions in cardiovascular surgery. The purpose of our study was to examine the potential protective effect of tea grape against aortic occlusion

8. The Role of Vaccinium Myrtillus in the Prevention of Renal Injury in an Experimental Model of Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Abstract Objective: To examine the biochemical and histopathological renal effects of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury using a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (RAAA) model in rats and to investigate the potential protective effects of whortleberry (Vaccinium myrtillus). Methods: Thirty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into four group

10. GDF11 ameliorated myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury by antioxidant stress and up-regulating autophagy in STZ-induced type 1 diabetic rats
Abstract Purpose: To investigate whether GDF11 ameliorates myocardial ischemia reperfusion (MIR) injury in diabetic rats and explore the underlying mechanisms. Methods: Diabetic and non-diabetic rats subjected to MIR (30 min of coronary artery occlusion followed by 120 min of reperfusion) with/without GDF11 pretreatment. Cardiac function, myocardial infarc

11. Mesenchymal stem cell therapy in acute kidney injury (AKI): review and perspectives
SUMMARY INTRODUCTION: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is highly prevalent today. It has a multifactorial aetiology and affects people of all ages, genders and ethnicities. Its treatment is essentially supportive of renal function substitution, so new treatment alternatives such as mesenchymal stem cell therapy (MSCs) should be investigated. METHODS: This review
