1. Reproductive efficiency of Nellore cows nursing Nellore or crossbred Simmental × Nellore calves
The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of genetic group (GG) of the calf during gestation, mobilization of body reserves and period of postpartum anestrus in Nellore cows. Thirty-seven primiparous and multiparous cows were used: 24 gave birth to Nellore (NEL), and 13 gave birth to ½ Simmental × ½ Nellore (SIM) calves. According to the da

2. Metabolic, productive and reproductive responses to postpartum short-term supplementation in primiparous beef cows
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a short-term supplementation with rice bran (2 kg/cows/day) on the endocrine and metabolic profiles and hepatic gene expression, associated with the reproductive response in beef cows in grazing conditions. Thirty-eight primiparous beef cows (Hereford, Angus and Hereford × Angus) were used in a rando

3. Utilização de subproduto de caju (Anacardium occidentale) no desempenho reprodutivo e produtivo de ovinos criados no Nordeste do Brasil. / Use of a byproduct of cashew (Anacardium occidentale) in reproductive and productive performance of sheep raised in Northeast Brazil.
The objectives were: 1) assess the reproductive responses of ewes fed increasing levels of dehydrated cashew apple pomace (25, 50 and 75%-BCD) during the mating period, 2) check the return to cyclicity in sheep fed postpartum period prescribed in the diet include BCD, 3) assess body development and puberty age of lambs fed 50% inclusion of BCD diet, and 4) t

4. Evaluation of chemical additives on losses and alimentary value of sugar cane silage for sheep / Avaliação de aditivos químicos sobre as perdas e valor alimentício das silagens de cana-de-açúcar para ovinos
Three experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of fresh sugarcane or sugarcane silages added during ensiling with calcium oxide and limestone (1% as-fed basis). The experiment I assessed the fermentative characteristics and aerobic stability of silages and fresh sugarcane. The lowest gas losses were observed for treatments containing calcium oxide

6. Reproductive performance in dairy cows following postpartum treatment with gonadotrophin releasing hormone and/or prostaglandin: a field trial.
Three hundred and five Holstein Friesian cows were given either 250 micrograms gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) or saline on day 15 postpartum followed by 500 micrograms cloprostenol or saline on day 24 postpartum. Four treatment groups were formed using random allocation: Group I -- placebo (Day 15)/placebo (Day 24), Group II -- GnRH (Day 15)/placebo

7. Interrelationships between postpartum events, hormonal therapy, reproductive abnormalities and reproductive performance in dairy cows: a path analysis.
Path analysis was used to determine the interrelationships between postpartum administration of gonadotrophin releasing hormone and cloprostenol and the occurrence of reproductive disease and reproductive performance in dairy cows. The data analysed were those collected on 226 Holstein-Friesian cows calving in a commercial dairy herd during a 17 month period
