1. VALORIZATION OF SOLID WASTES FROM THE BREWERY AND BIODIESEL INDUSTRIES FOR THE BIOPRODUCTION OF NATURAL DYES
This study aims to assess a new approach for concomitant valorization of two industrial wastes - raw glycerin and spent brewer’s yeast - for the bioproduction of valuable carotenoids. Microbial pigments have numerous applications in the food and cosmetic industries. First, four cultures of yeasts were screened using pure glycerol and either (NH4)2SO4 or ur

2. AVALIAÇÃO DO POTENCIAL USO DE BIOGLICERINA COMO BASE PARA FORMULAÇÃO DE FLUIDOS DE PERFURAÇÃO AQUOSOS PARA POÇOS DE PETRÓLEO E GÁS
The growing global concern about the environment associated with academic and government efforts are enabling a number of alternatives for sustainable development. Within this perspective one can include the search for value-added products using waste from renewable energy sources, such as those from the production of biodiesel. The rapid development of biod

3. Produção de gás de síntese a partir da glicerina / Syngas production from glycerol
Biodiesel (alkyls esters) is a clean burning fuel derived from renewable lipid feedstock such as vegetable oil or animal fat. Glycerin is a by-product from the biodiesel production which represents nearly 10% of product total mass. As the biodiesel production is increasing there exist incentives to use the glycerin as raw material for other processes. The gl

4. Síntese de insumos químicos a partir de biodiesel produzido pela transesterificação de gordura animal / Synthesis of intermediary chemicals produced from biodiesel by animal fat
Due to technical and economic reasons, the biodiesel production from animal fat, to be used as biofuel, is disadvantageous when compared to some processes that utilize raw materials from vegetables origin. However, biodiesel derived from animal fat has chemical characteristics that allow its use as an input for a wide range of products with high added value.

5. Síntese de biodiesel etílico de girassol utilizando transesterificação alcalina seguido da adição on pot de H2SO4 / Biodiesel synthesis from sunflower oil through alkaline transesterification followed on pot addition of sulfuric acid
In this study, the on pot addition of sulfuric acid was studied in the transesterification process of sunflower oil, using ethanol and methanol, by basic catalysis (NaOH or KOH). That addition implicated in successfully separation of FAEEs from FAMEs/glycerin phases due to soap breaking. The on pot additions yield free fatty acids and salt (Na2SO4 or K2SO4).

6. Purificação da glicerina bruta obtida a partir da transesterificação do óleo de algodão / Purificação da glicerina bruta obtida a partir da transesterificação do óleo de algodão
The crude glycerine is a raw material that can be used in a wide variety of products. Even with all the impurities inherent in the process of being obtained, the crude glycerin is already in a marketable product. However, the market is much more favorable to the commercialization of purified glycerine. The glycerin is a byproduct gotten from the process of t

7. Development of a new process to produce of fatty acids ethyl esters (biodiesel) from castor oil / DESENVOLVIMENTO DE UM NOVO PROCESSO PARA A PRODUÇÃO DE BIODIESEL ETÍLICO DE MAMONA
The present work seeks study the production of fatty acids ethyl esters from Ricinus communis L. by alkaline transesterification of castor oil with ethanol. This methodology will be used to determine the optimum conditions for biodiesel production from castor oil using the minimal number of unit operations with the consequent benefit from economical point of

8. Hidrólise ácida e retirada de sais da glicerina bruta proveniente da produção de biodiesel. / Acid hydrolysis and salts extraction of raw glycerin from biodiesel production.

9. Produção de biodiesel via transesterificação do óleo de nabo forrageiro
The obtainment of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels from biomass is among the well-known possibilities of the use of the energetic resources. Brazil is considered a privileged country to develop from biomass point of view, due to its vast farmland, abundance of water and high incidence of solar radiation on the land, and the availability of rural workforce. 10. Avaliação da Sustentabilidade do Biodiesel de Soja no Brasil
Biodiesel production in Brazil is currently being sustained mainly by soybean cultivation, mixed with methanol. There is a discussion about the possibility of this soybean-based production can contribute to develop the country in a sustainable manner, taking into account social, economic, environmental and strategic aspects. On the other hand, all those rela

11. Sintese e caracterização de membranas de quitosana para aplicação na regeneração de pele / Synthesis and characterization of chitosan membranes for application in skin regeneration
Chitosan is an atoxic, biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharide with bacteriostatic and healing properties showing potential use in biomaterial synthesis. In this context, the aim of this work was to study the effects induced by chitosan solution concentration and by chitin and glycerol incorporation in the total raw material cost, physical (morphology

Desenvolvimento de plastico biodegradavel a base de amido de milho e gelatina pelo processo de extrusão : avaliação das propriedades mecanicas, termicas e de barreira / Development of a biodegradable plastic base of cornstarch and gelatin by the process of extrusion: evaluation of mechanical properties, thermal and barrier
Due to the increasing accumulation of synthetic plastic rubbish, damaging the ecosystem, various strategies are being followed aimed at decreasing this aggression by way of prevention, reduction, recycling and chemical valorization of the synthetic materials, and especially by the use of biodegradable polymers. The use of starch to make thermoplastic materia
