1. Estudo temporal da estratificação no reservatório da Usina Hidrelétrica de Itaipu e suas influências nos drenos de fundação da barragem de concreto (estudo de longo período) / Study of Temporal Stratification in the resevoir of Itaipu Hydroeletric Power Plant and its influences at the fundation drains of the concrete barrage (long term study)

2. Uso do sensoriamento remoto orbital e de superfície para o estudo do comportamento espectral do corpo de água do reservatório de Manso, MT, Brasil / Use of orbital and surface remoto sensing to the study of the spectral signature of the reservoir water Body, MT, Brazil
The monitoring of water quality of a reservoir allows for preservation of the environment as well as bringing social-economic benefits. Remote Sensing accomplishes this monitoring in a synoptic way, because it considers spatial and time scales necessary to evaluate an aquatic ecosystem. For this, a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor

3. Hidrogeomorphologic and hidrosedimentologic analyses to compare two watersheds of Itaipu reservoir / Análises hidrogeomorfológicas para comparação de duas bacias hidrográficas contribuintes do reservatório de Itaipu
The aim of this research was to perform hidrogeomorphologic and hidrosedimentologic analyses and comparing two watersheds that drain into the reservoir Itaipu: Iguatemi-MS and Piquiri-PR. The hidrogeomorphologic analyses of the watersheds comprised evaluations of the potential sediment load yield through selected morfometric parameters. The hidrosedimentolog

O sensor Moderate Resolution Imag

6. RegularizaÃÃo de VazÃe em ReservatÃrios AtravÃs dos Modelos Mensal e Bi-Sazonal: A DuraÃÃo da EstaÃÃo Seca e a Proposta da EvaporaÃÃo Equivalente / ADJUSTMENT OF RESERVOIR IN OUTFLOWS THROUGH MODELS MONTHLY AND BI-SAZONAL: THE DURATION OF THE SEASON DRY AND THE PROPOSAL EQUIVALENT EVAPORATION
The Brazilian Semi-Arid Region is marked by physical and climatic factors that influence directly in the survival of the population. The irregular pluviometric regimen, the high taxes of evaporation and the crystalline ground predominance make the Cear? a satiated State of intermittent rivers. x the reservoirs are calculeted to regularize outflows with rando

7. PROBABILISTIC ANALYSES OF SLOPES AND RETAINMENTS STABILITY / ANÁLISES PROBABILÍSTICAS DA ESTABILIDADE DE TALUDES E CONTENÇÕES
Geotechnical projects are generaly assessed through the calculus of the safety factor obtained by deterministic methodologies. The purpose of the present research work is to compare two probabilistic methods (Estimate Punctual and Second Moment) employed in stability analyses. Probabilistic methods quantify the uncertainties derived from the variability of g

8. Is endometrial infection with Candida albicans a cause of recurrent vaginal thrush?
OBJECTIVE--It was hypothesised that the endometrium might act as a reservoir for candida, thus infecting the vagina as the endometrium is shed during menstruation. DESIGN--A prospective study of women with recurrent vulvo-vaginal candidiasis. The endometrium was sampled and cultured for candida species. SETTING--Central London STD clinic. SUBJECTS--26 women

9. Conjugal transfer of R68.45 and FP5 between Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains in a freshwater environment.
Recent concern over the release of genetically engineered organisms has resulted in a need for information about the potential for gene transfer in the environment. In this study, the conjugal transfer in Pseudomonas aeruginosa of the plasmids R68.45 and FP5 was demonstrated in the freshwater environment of Fort Loudoun Resevoir, Knoxville, Tenn. When geneti

10. Oxygen Uptake and Hydrogen-Stimulated Nitrogenase Activity from Azorhizobium caulinodans ORS571 Grown in a Succinate-Limited Chemostat
Succinate-limited continuous cultures of an Azorhizobium caulinodans strain were grown on ammonia or nitrogen gas as a nitrogen source. Ammonia-grown cells became oxygen limited at 1.7 μM dissolved oxygen, whereas nitrogen-fixing cells remained succinate limited even at dissolved oxygen concentrations as low as 0.9 μM. Nitrogen-fixing cells tolerated disso
