1. Substrates for seedlings with sewage sludge and biochar
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate substrates formulated with proportions of sewage sludge (SS)-solarized and SS-biochar in the production of seedlings of two indicator crops: lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and black wattle (Acacia decurrens Wild). The study was composed of two experiments conducted in greenhouse, in randomized block designs.

3. Composition and mineralization of organic compost derived from composting of fruit and vegetable waste
ABSTRACT Fruit and vegetable waste can be used for the production of organic compost, which when mineralized can increase the availability of nitrogen. The objectives of this study were: (a) to produce compost from different ratios of fruit and vegetable waste, rice husk and poultry manure that meets the legislation on organic fertilizers and (b) to assess t

4. Economic and Financial Analysis of Tree Seedling Production Using Composted Biosolids Substrate
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate production profitability of Croton urucurana and Cytharexyllum myrianthum seedlings produced in substrates composed of mixtures of composted biosolids and carbonized rice husk in different concentrations of nutrient solution. Seedlings were subjected to three doses of fertigation solutions. In order to check qua

5. Degrading Pesticides with Waste Product: Imidazole-Functionalized Rice Husk Catalyst for Organophosphate Detoxification
Rice husk (RH) is one the largest agricultural waste products worldwide, and rice is one of the crops that use the most pesticides. Among these, organophosphates have been of increasing concern due to their high toxicity. Herein, we report the functionalization of RH with imidazole groups (RHIMZ) to obtain sustainable catalysts from waste for organophosphate

6. Efficiency of the On-Farm Mycorrhizal Inoculant and Phonolite Rock on Growth and Nutrition of Schinus terebinthifolius and Eucalyptus saligna
ABSTRACT: The production of tree seedlings with high survival rate and growth is influenced by the substrate, which may be composed of biological and non-biological materials that help plant growth. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of a mycorrhizal inoculant on farm and the use of a potassic rock (phonolite) on growth and nutrition

7. DISPONIBILIDADE HÍDRICA NA PRODUÇÃO DE GIPSOFILA (GYPSOPHILA PANICULATA) EM VASOS COM SUBSTRATO DE CASCA DE ARROZ CARBONIZADA / WATER AVAILABILITY ON GIPSOFILA (GYPSOPHILA PANICULATA) GROWING IN POTS WITH SUBSTRATE RICE HUSK CARBONIZED
Ornamental plants in general are highly susceptive to water deficiency, principally to the elevated soil water level variation that effects at a precarious and uneven final product development. The study was conducted on greenhouse at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS. It aimed to observe if rice husk ash substrate offers limitation to the pot cult

8. Produção e caracterização de celulases produzidas por um isolado de Bacillus sp. / Production and characterization of cellulases produced by isolated from Bacillus sp
During the composting process, degradation of organic waste is accomplished and driven by a succession of microbial populations exhibiting a broad range of functional capabilities. A total of 183 bacteria isolated from a composting process were evaluated for the capacity for hydrolyze cellulose. Out of that, after the first screening one isolate was selected

The earthworms are organisms of the edaphic fauna with great capacity of transformation of organic residues with stabled composting. The potential of these organisms have the advantage in the earthworm-breeding, seeking the humus production as organic fertilizer, and earthworms biomass, as food for several animals. However, many organic residues are not ofte

12. Casca de arroz processada via enzimólise como fonte de carbono para produção de celulose por Acetobacter xylinum / Rice husk processed with hidrolityc enzimes as source of carbon for the production of bacterial cellulose by Acetobacter xylinum
Bacterial cellulose (BC) has been applied in the electronic industry and in medicine as a wound dressing film. However, the high manufacturing cost limits its wide-scale use. To reduce the costs of the process and obtain a differentiated product, this work proposes the use of rice husk as a substrate for the production of BC, since it consists of minerals, c
