1. Nuclear structure of 64Cu / Estrutura nuclear do 64Cu
The main goal of this work is a study of the odd-odd nucleus 64Cu using in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy. For this study, the fusion-evaporation reaction 51V(16O, 2pn)64Cu at 70 MeV bombarding energy has been performed with the 8-UD Pelletron TANDEM accelerator of the Universidade de São Paulo. The target consisted of a 4.4 mg/cm2 foil of 51V with a 7.0 mg/cm

2. Study of a 4?(PS)?-? Coincidence System for Absolute Radionuclide Activity Measurement Using Plastic Scintillators / Estudo de um sistema de coincidências 4-pi-beta-gama para a medida absoluta de atividade de radionuclídeos empregando cintiladores plásticos
The present work was intended to study a coincidence system 4?(PS)?-? for absolute activity measurement using plastic scintillators in 4? geometry. Along with experiments on the coincidence system, simulations were also performed applying the Monte Carlo Method, by means of codes PENELOPE and ESQUEMA. These simulations were performed in order to calculate th

3. Desenvolvimento do cristal semicondutor de Brometo de Tálio para aplicações como detector de radiação e fotodetector / Development of TIBr semiconductor crystal for applications as radiation detector and photodetector
In this work, TlBr crystals were grown by the Bridgman method from zone melted materials. The influence of the purification efficiency and the crystalline surface quality on the crystal were studied, evaluating its performance as a radiation detector. Due to significant improvement in the purification and crystals growth, good results have been obtained for

4. Synthesis and characterization of Rare Earth compounds with potencial appplication in ionizing radiation detection / Síntese e caracterização de compostos de terras raras com potencial aplicação na detecção de radiação ionizante
Rare Earth (RE) inorganic phosphors play an important role as ionizing radiation detectors when applied to medical imaging techniques like radiology and tomography. These phosphors is to convert the high energy radiation absorbed photons (X or ?-rays) into visible photons, leading to better quality images and reducing the time the patient is exposed to radia
