1. Recovery Process Development for the Rare Earths from Permanent Magnet Scraps Leach Liquors
The current study deals with the recovery process development for the rare earths (REs), i.e., dysprosium (Dy) and neodymium (Nd), metals from permanent magnet scraps leach liquors. Its main objective is the recovery of the rare earths (Dy and Nd) from permanent magnet scraps (PMSs). Introdutory experiments were carried out to get leach liquor solution: oxid

2. Modelagem matemática da operação de escrubagem da bauxita de Paragominas-PA. / Mathematical modeling of the scrubbing process for the Miltonia 3 Bauxite.

3. APLICAÇÃO DE PRODUTOS DA FERMENTAÇÃO E ULTRABAIXO OXIGÊNIO PARA A CONSERVAÇÃO DE MAÇÃS ROYAL GALA
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of post harvest ethanol or acetaldehyde application and to compare them with consolidated storage techniques on the quality maintenance of Royal Gala‟ apples. Also, we aimed to evaluate the effect of controlled atmosphere condition with ultra low oxygen partial pressures on the post storage quality mainte

5. Modeling, simulation, and optimization of a front-end system for acetylene hydrogenation reactors
The modeling, simulation, and dynamic optimization of an industrial reaction system for acetylene hydrogenation are discussed in the present work. The process consists of three adiabatic fixed-bed reactors, in series, with interstage cooling. These reactors are located after the compression and the caustic scrubbing sections of an ethylene plant, characteriz

6. A adesão dos profissionais de enfermagem às precauções de isolamento na assistência aos portadores de microrganismos multirresistentes / Adhesion of nursing professionals to isolation precautions in care for patients with multiresistant microorganisms.
As microorganisms acquired resistance against antimicrobial agents, multiresistant strains appeared which are difficult to treat. Hence, the total adhesion of health professionals to the precaution measures used in care for patients with multiresistant microorganisms has become essential, with a view to avoiding their dissemination in the hospital environmen

8. Operação periódica de um leito gotejante de carvão ativado para redução da emissão do poluente atmosférico SO2 com geração de ácido sulfúrico.
A laboratory-scale investigation of SO2 scrubbing was carried out in a 77.92mm (diameter) × 80.00mm trickle bed with 2.00-2.36mm activated carbon particles using continuous and periodically interrupted liquid flows. The effects of cycle period (10 and 20 minutes), cycle split (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3), superficial gas velocity (20, 40 and 60mm/s), and superficial

9. Effect of scrubbing and irrigation on staphylococcal and streptococcal counts in contaminated lacerations.
We studied the effects of scrubbing with poloxamer 188 (SCR), irrigating with povidone iodine (PI), and scrubbing followed by irrigation (SCR-PI) on staphylococcal and streptococcal counts in inoculated guinea pig lacerations. PI irrigation and SCR-PI significantly lowered streptococcal counts (P < 0.05). Staphylococcal counts were not different from those i

10. Experiments on terminal disinfection by formaldehyde vapor in the case of smallpox.
The usually recommended terminal disinfection by formaldehyde vapor is unable to completely inactivate vaccinia viruses embedded in scabs. In view of our results, we recommend doubling the concentration of formaldehyde (10 g of formaldehyde per m3 of space) and prolonging the time of exposure to 24 h for terminal disinfection in the case of smallpox. Subsequ

11. Differential quantitation of surface and subsurface bacteria of normal skin by the combined use of the cotton swab and the scrub methods.
By testing adjacent sites on the hypothenar eminence of the palm, enriched with bacteria by massaging the forehead, we found that the numbers of bacteria recovered from the skin surface by a wet cotton swab in 30 s were not significantly different from the numbers obtained by a brisk scrubbing with a blunted Teflon policeman for 120 s. This was true of aerob

12. Stabilization of Isolated Photosystem II Reaction Center Complex in the Dark and in the Light Using Polyethylene Glycol and an Oxygen-Scrubbing System 1
The photosystem II reaction center as isolated (O Nanba, K Satoh [1987] Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 84: 109-112) is quite dilute and very unstable. Precipitating the complex with polyethylene glycol and resuspending it in buffer without detergent concentrates the reaction center and greatly improves its stability at 4°C in the dark as judged by light-induced ele
