1. Analysis of Secondary Refining Slag Parameters with Focus on Inclusion Cleanliness
Secondary refining slag samples with different chemical compositions (45-54 % CaO, 7-13 % Al2O3, 20-29 % SiO2, 9-16 % MgO, 0-5 % CaF2) were investigated to verify the influence of their effective viscosity on inclusion cleanliness of DIN 38MnS6 in a steelmaking plant. The steel samples were collected during the production process for analysis of inclusions.

2. Fracture Behavior and Fatigue Performance of Inconel 625
Inconel 625 is a nickel-based highly-resistant superalloy widely used in aerospace components, in the nuclear industry, and especially in the maritime industry. Materials such as Inconel 625 have been widely used in oil exploration of Brazilian pre-salt layers due to their excellent resistance to corrosion under tension, pitting and crevice corrosion by chlo

3. Quality and antioxidant potential of byproducts from refining of fruit pulp
Abstract The potential use of byproducts from fruit processing has been evaluated in order to propose new uses as well as reducing costs and environmental impact. Most of the studies are focused on byproducts from primary transformation. However, byproducts from secondary transformation can reserve similar reuse opportunities. The aim of this study was to c

4. Effective Viscosity of Slag and Kinetic Stirring Parameter Applied in Steel Cleanliness During Vacuum Degassing
The process of vacuum degassing occurs during the secondary refining of special steels. Its main function is to remove undesirable gases. However, during this process, flotation phenomenon and inclusions absorption are reported. The aim of the present work was to study the slag viscosity and vacuum degassing (tank type) capacity in steel cleanliness from an

5. Free Opening Performance of Steel Ladle as a Function of Filler Sand Properties
The secondary steel refining process uses filler sand as a thermal insulating barrier that separates the liquid metal from direct contact with slide-gate system of the steel ladle. The effective use of this practice must provide a high free opening rate, impacting on increased productivity and quality of steel, reducing the number of stops, thermal loss and

7. Estudo sobre o pick-up de nitrogênio após a etapa de refino primário do aço
With the growing need of high quality steel there is a great demand for the development and production of steels with ever stringent chemical composition restrictions. For instance the presence of carbon and nitrogen in Interstitial Free steels for automobile industry. These restrictions are defined by the final application to which the product is destined.

8. Avaliação dos efeitos da injeção de gás na câmara de vácuo do modelo físico de um desgaseificador RH
Steels with low concentrations of nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon have in large demand lately. The RH process is a secondary refining process that can simultaneously attain significant levels of removal of these interstitial elements from liquid steel. In the RH process, the melt circulation rate plays a very important role in determining productivity of the e

9. Cytogenetics investigation on orofacial cleft individuals and screening of informative cases for further studies / Investigação citogenetica em individuos com fendas orofaciais e triagem dos casos informativos para estudos especificos
Cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P) occurs in approximately 1/500 to 1/1000 newborns and cleft palate (CP), etiologically distinct, in approximately 0,4/1000 newborns. They have a complex etiology, and the great majority of clefts appear to be isolated anomalies, in which have been observed a very important genetic component. However, in a signific

10. Levantamento das inclusões nos principais grupos de aços produzidos em aciaria do tipo LD. / Non-metallic inclusions in BOF steels, secondarily refined, destined to continuous casting of slabs.

11. Study of the nature of non-metallic inclusions in samples of aluminum and silicon killed low carbon steels, collected in the refining treatment and continuous casting stages
The amount, distribution, size and chemical composition of non-metallic inclusions have a direct influence on steel properties. By controlling size and chemical composition of these inclusions, it is possible to get a product with good quality. The identification of the nature and the control of inclusion formation are very important for steel cleanness. The

12. The chemistry of defense: theory and practice.
Defensive chemicals used by organisms for protection against potential consumers are generally products of secondary metabolism. Such chemicals are characteristic of free-living organisms with a limited range of movement or limited control over their movements. Despite the fact that chemical defense is widespread among animals as well as plants, the vast maj
