1. Large-scale migration of a school shark, Galeorhinus galeus , in the Southwestern Atlantic
ABSTRACT Knowledge of the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of chondrichthyans is critical for their effective management. In this study we report and analyze a large-scale latitudinal migration (~ 1,425 km) of a female school shark in the Southwestern Atlantic shelf where it is currently classified as Critically Endangered. During the austral summe

2. DNA barcoding reveals the diversity of sharks in Guyana coastal markets

3. Bioecology and movements of bull sharks, Carcharhinus leucas , caught in a long-term longline survey off northeastern Brazil

4. Evasive mating behaviour by female nurse sharks, Ginglymostoma cirratum (Bonnaterre, 1788), in an equatorial insular breeding ground

5. Zoogeography of Elasmobranchs in the Colombian Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea
ABSTRACT In order to investigate zoogeographical patterns of the marine elasmobranch species of Colombia, species richness of the Pacific and Caribbean and their subareas (Coastal Pacific, Oceanic Pacific, Coastal Caribbean, Oceanic Caribbean) was analyzed. The areas shared 10 families, 10 genera and 16 species of sharks, and eight families, three genera and

6. Depletion of trophy large-sized sharks populations of the Argentinean coast, south-western Atlantic: insights from fishers' knowledge
Abstract Globally, sharks are impacted by a wide range of human activities, resulting in many populations being depleted. Trophy large-sized sharks of the Argentinean coast, the sand-tiger Carcharias taurus , the copper Carcharhinus brachyurus and the sevengill shark Notorynchus cepedianus are under intense sport and artisanal fishing since the 50's decade.

7. Injuries by marine and freshwater stingrays: history, clinical aspects of the envenomations and current status of a neglected problem in Brazil
Stingrays are a group of rays – cartilaginous fish related to sharks – that have whiplike tails with barbed, usually venomous spines and are found around the world, especially the marine species. Despite recent reports of accidents involving these fish, they are not aggressive, reacting only when stepped on or improperly handled. Injuries by stingrays ar

8. Morphological analysis and description of the ovaries of female silky sharks, Carcharhinus falciformis (Müller & Henle, 1839)

9. Relações filogenéticas dos tubarões-martelo (Elasmobranchii: Sphyrnidae) com ênfase em morfologia / Phylogenetic relationships among hammerhead sharks (Elasmobranchii: Sphyrnidae) based on morphology
10. Distribuição espacial, formação de grupos, uso do hábitat e ecologia comportamental de jovens de tubarão limão, negaprion brevirostris (poey 1868), no arquipélago de fernando de noronha
Lemon sharks, Negaprion brevirostris, are common in the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, but detailed information about the species in this site is lacking. The aim of this study was to describe the spatial distribution, grouping behavior, habitat use and behavioral ecology of juvenile lemon sharks in the archipelago, and their interaction with some environm

11. Ocorrência de PCBs, PBDEs e pesticidas organiclorados em Prionace glauca da costa sul brasileira / Ocurrence of PCBs, PBDEs and organochlorine pesticides in Prionace glauca from Braziliam south coast
There are many studies about the occurrence of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the marine environment using sharks as bioindicators. However, there is still a lack of data of POPs in those organisms in Brazil. The goal of this research was to investigate the occurrence and behavior of PCBs, organochlorine pesticides and PBDEs in the marine environmen

12. Population size and survivorship for juvenile lemon sharks (Negaprion brevirostris) on their nursery grounds at a marine protected area in Brazil
