1. Experimentação física do escoamento gás-líquido em uma coluna de bolhas retangular utilizando a técnica PIV e a técnica de sombras SHADOW / Gas- liquid experimentation in a rectangular bubble column using PIV and Shadow techniques
Bubble columns are multiphase contact devices for mass and heat transfer, wich are intensively used in different industrial areas. Flow and turbulence in these equipments are induced by the bubble rise motion. The hydrodynamics and bubble behavior in a homogeneous bubbly flow regime was analyzed in a rectangular laboratory-scale bubble column (50 x 20 x 220

2. Fracionamento de surfactina em coluna de bolhas e espuma / Fractionation of surfactin on a bubble and foam column
Foam fractionation of biosurfactant surfactin solutions obtained from fermentation with Bacillus subtilis bacteria was experimentally studied. A bubble and foam column system was mounted and operated in a semi-batch mode aiming at to optimize the concentration enrichment and the recovery of the bioproduct. The process involves the injection of gaseous nitrog

3. MONOENERGETIC AND POLYENERGETIC GAMMA RAY COMPUTER TOMOGRAPHY FOR MULTIPHASE SYSTEMS ANALYSIS / Análise de sistemas multifásicos utilizando tomografia computadorizada Gama monoenergética e polienergética
It is important to recognize that at the heart of chemical transformations in all process and energy industries is multiphase reator technology, as over 99% of reator systems require the presence of more than one phase for proper operation. Tomography is a powerful technique capable of determining the effect of operating and design parameters on the phase ho

4. Simulação tridimensional de uma coluna de bolhas-diferentes abordagens geometricas e modelagem / Three-demensional simulation of bubble columns-model and geometrical approaches on hydrodynamics

5. Experimental study on bubble size distributions in a direct-contact evaporator
Experimental bubble size distributions and bubble mean diameters were obtained by means of a photographic technique for a direct-contact evaporator operating in the quasi-steady-state regime. Four gas superficial velocities and three different spargers were analysed for the air-water system. In order to assure the statistical significance of the determined s

6. Effect of environmental conditions on production of toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 by Staphylococcus aureus.
The kinetics of toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 (TSST-1) production by Staphylococcus aureus was studied in a fermentor in which aeration rate, atmospheric composition, pH, and temperature were controlled. The toxin was synthesized at a maximal rate during the exponential phase. High bacterial populations were not necessarily accompanied by high TSST-1 yields.

7. Thymic Lesions in Cats Infected with a Pathogenic Molecular Clone or an ORF-A/2-Deficient Molecular Clone of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
Previous studies using feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) molecular clones lacking the putative transactivator gene (ORF-A/2) failed to address the issue of thymus pathogenesis or investigate the levels of viral replication in separate lymphoid compartments (Y.
