3. Concrete block structural masonry beam shear design: theoretical and experimental analysis and recommendations to the brazilian standards

4. Evaluation of two-step transformation in Ni-rich titanium-nickel alloys using thermal and internal friction analyses
ABSTRACT The use of Ti-Ni memory alloys covers several fields of application such as medicine, dentistry, actuators, sensors among others. Because of the thermomechanical behavior of these materials, they are an object of continuous studies and their properties are related to the occurrence of thermoelastic martensitic phase transformations. The thermal anal

5. STRESS, DISPLACEMENT JOINTS OF GMELINA ARBOREA AND TECTONA GRANDIS WOOD WITH METAL PLATES, SCREWS AND NAILS FOR USE IN TIMBER TRUSS CONNECTIONS
ABSTRACT In countries like Costa Rica, there is an interest in developing wooden trusses in a versatile and light way. However, there is a key aspect in the behavior of truss connections in this product. Therefore, the present study determines the structural behavior of the truss connections and the displacement, the resistance, the stiffness values and the

6. Enhancement the Fatigue Life of Floating Breakwater Mooring System Using Tuned Liquid Column Damper
Abstract Safety is a key design criterion for floating structures. A high rate of mooring accidents has been reported over the past decades. Preventing mooring line failure is a key design objective for floating breakwater systems. The mooring system comprises sets of mooring lines anchored to the seabed. These components are exposed to highly cyclic nonline

7. Study on impact of fiber hybridization in material properties of engineered cementitious composites

9. Kin on the Wing: patterns in residence, mobility, and alliance for Ache hunter-gatherers

10. Two-Dimensional Numerical Model of the Fracture Process in Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete with the Continuum Strong Discontinuity Approach and Functional Data Analysis
Abstract This paper presents the formulation of a two-dimensional numeri-cal model able to describe the fracture process in structural mem-bers of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) from the volume ratio of the fibres and the mechanical properties of the compo-nents: a concrete matrix and a set of steel fibres with a random orientation. The relationship

11. Sericin as compatibilizer in starch/ polyester blown films
Abstract This study investigated the effects of low concentrations of sericin (≤ 1.5 wt%) in starch- poly(butylene-adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) films. The films were produced by blown extrusion and mechanical, barrier and structural properties were determined. Films containing 1.0 and 1.5 wt% sericin showed higher tensile strength (6.41 and 6.59 MPa)

12. A computational framework for predicting onset and crack propagation in composite structures via eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM)
Abstract The eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM) has been reliably used for analyzing crack growth in 3D structural elements over last years. In fact, many researchers have worked in this field, but it is scarce to find scientific contributions about 3D XFEM models applied to the failure of non-standard composite parts, such as tapered structures and thick
