1. Comparative analysis of butter thermal behavior in combination with bovine tallow
Abstract Assessment of butter authenticity in combination with animal fat is a major challenge. Changing the butter composition can affect crystallization and polymorphism properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermal behavior of butter combined with (0-15% w/w) bovine tallow using Digital Calorimetric Scanning, and to determine fatty aci

2. Consumo de Oxigênio e Aptidão Cardiorrespiratória | Diferença entre Idade Cronológica e Biológica
Biodiesel made from oils is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids methyl esters, and, consequently, presents high tendency to oxidize. Biodiesel made from fats, on the other hand, is mainly comprised by saturated chains. Although it is highly stable, they easily crystalize at low temperatures. Blends from both can exhibit optimized properties. In this work, ox

4. The Catalytic Action of Copper Ions and the Rosemary Extract Antioxidant Effect in the Biodiesel Oxidation Reaction and the Implication in Arrhenius Behavior
Biodiesel contains esters in its composition which make it susceptible to oxidation. Among the factors that cause this reaction is the contamination with metal ions. In the present work, it was analyzed biodiesel samples obtained from a mixture containing 39.0% m/m soybean oil, 22.0% m/m beef tallow and 39.0% m/m poultry fat using a methyl route. Copper ions

5. Lipid Sources in Diets for Hy-Line White Laying: Performance, Biometrics of Digestive Organs, and Bone Characteristics
ABSTRACT Dietary inclusion of lipid sources has been one of the methods adopted by nutritionists aiming at better energy balancing. However, alternative energy feedstuffs have been sought in an attempt to reduce production costs. In this regard, lipid sources that can replace conventional ones, such as beef tallow, cottonseed oil, and sunflower oil have been

6. Influence of dietary fat sources and conjugated fatty acid on egg quality, yolk cholesterol, and yolk fatty acid composition of laying hens
ABSTRACT This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary fats (tallow [TO] or linseed oil [LO]) or conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), singly or in combination, on laying performance, yolk lipids, and fatty acid composition of egg yolks. Three hundred 50-week-old laying hens were given one of five diets containing 2% TO; 1% TO + 1% CLA (TO/CLA); 2

7. GC-FID METHODOLOGY VALIDATION FOR THE FATTY ESTERS CONTENT DETERMINATION IN BIODIESEL WITH HEXADECYL ACETATE AS THE INTERNAL STANDARD
Biodiesel purity expressed as fatty esters content is one of its most important quality parameters. Although several instrumental methods have been employed, gas chromatography with internal standard calibration has been the most used. Biodiesel is a very complex matrix, therefore finding a suitable internal standard (IS) is not straightforward. EN14103:2003

8. BEEF TALLOW AND EMULSIFIER IN GROWING-FINISHING PIG DIETS
ABSTRACT Two trials were aimed to evaluate beef tallow in diets with and without emulsifier on performance of pigs at growing-finishing phases. In the first trial, 15 barrows (22.03±0.62 kg) were distributed among three treatments: reference diet; test diet 1 (5% beef tallow) and test diet 2 (10% beef tallow). Beef tallow presented average value of 7130.97

9. Evaluation of ASTM D6584 method for biodiesel ethyl esters from sunflower oil and soybean/tallow mixture and for biodiesel methyl esters from tung oil and soybean/tung mixture

10. Evaluation of the oxidative stability of biodiesel blends from soybean, tallow and castor bean using experimental mixture design

Methanolic transesterification of oils and fats was carried out in a two steps procedure, under basic and acidic catalysis. Palm, soybean, canola, corn, rice, grapeseed, sunflower, peanut, pequi and olive oils, besides tallow and lard were used as feedstock. Specific gravity, relative viscosity, thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography were used to c

12. Estudo da influência da adição de etanol e/ou metanol ao biodiesel associado a ferramentas quimiométricas
The objective of this work is to study the influence of the addition of alcohol methanol or ethanol - to biodiesel. Therefore, Principal Components Analysis (PCA) was combined with infrared spectra with the aim of separating soybean and tallow biodiesel samples with different alcohol contents of ethanol or methanol. PCA yielded a good reduction of data regar
