1. Identificação de actinobactérias e Thermoactinomyces spp. isolados do processo de compostagem para a produção de Agaricus brasiliensis / Identification of actinobacteria and Thermoactinomyces spp. isolated from composting process for the production of Agaricus brasiliensis

3. Cellulolytic Enzyme System of Thermoactinomyces sp. Grown on Microcrystalline Cellulose
The carboxymethyl-cellulase and Avicelase activities of Thermoactinomyces sp., strain YX, were produced simultaneously with cell growth. Throughout the growth phase these activities were primarily extracellular, with up to 50% adsorbed to residual cellulosic substrate at any one time. On the other hand, the β-glucosidase activity was associated with the cul

4. Amylolytic Isoenzymes of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris1
Thermoactinomyces vulgaris strain 5 produced two electrophoretically different α-amylases. Precipitation with ammonium sulfate and acetone did not alter the electrophoretic mobilities of either amylase isoenzyme. Patterns of the hydrolysis products of amylose by the two amylase isoenzymes were essentially identical.

5. Isolation of Amylolytic Strains of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris and Production of Thermophilic Actinomycete Amylases1
Kuo, M. J. (Iowa State University, Ames), and P. A. Hartman. Isolation of amylolytic strains of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris and production of thermophilic actinomycete amylases. J. Bacteriol. 92:723–726. 1966.—Of 759 isolates obtained from dung, compost, and soil samples, a culture of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris (strain 5) was selected for further study on

6. Studies on the Thermophilic Actinomycetes1: I. Methods of Cultivation
A total of 1,000 isolates of thermophilic actinomycetes representing two genera, Streptomyces and Thermoactinomyces, were studied. Media for cultivation and for physiological studies were designed. Differences between the two genera are noted and taxonomic criteria for the genus Thermoactinomyces are suggested. The importance of the nutritional environment t

7. Isolation of bacteriophage from Thermoactinomyces.
Bacteriophages were isolated from strains of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris, T. candidus, and T. sacchari used to produce antigen for hypersensitivity pneumonitis screening at the Marshfield Medical Foundation. Whereas the one phage isolated from T. sacchari and two phages from T. vulgaris were species specific, three other phages isolated from T. vulgaris and t

8. Use of a serologically distinct strain of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris in the diagnosis of farmer's lung disease.
During investigations into farmer's lung disease it was noticed that Micropolyspora faeni (MF) was isolated and identified with ease, but difficulty was encountered in the identification of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris (TV), although an organism resembling TV was frequently isolated. Extracts prepared from the isolates resembling TV (called Thermoactinomyces v

9. Malate dehydrogenases from actinomycetes: structural comparison of Thermoactinomyces enzyme with other actinomycete and Bacillus enzymes.
Malate dehydrogenases from bacteria belonging to the genus Thermoactinomyces are tetrameric, like those from Bacillus spp., and exhibit a high degree of structural homology to Bacillus malate dehydrogenase as judged by immunological cross-reactivity. Malate dehydrogenases from other actinomycetes are dimers and do not cross-react with antibodies to Bacillus

12. Viable endospores of Thermoactinomyces vulgaris in lake sediments as indicators of agricultural history.
Bacteria of the genus Thermoactinomyces form endospores with an extreme longevity in natural habitats. We isolated Thermoactinomyces sacchari from 9,000-year-old varved (annually laminated) sediment; thus, T. sacchari is probably one of the oldest known living organisms. More importantly, we tested and verified the hypothesis that there is a relationship bet
