1. A novel transition identification mechanism for the diesel blending and distribution scheduling problem using the discrete time representation with two time-scales granularity
ABSTRACT Transitions between tasks arise in many different scheduling problems. Sometimes transitions are undesired because they incur costs; sometimes they are undesired because they require setup time, and sometimes both. In one way or the other, frequently, transitions need to be identified and penalized in order for their frequency to be minimized. The p

2. DISCOVERING AND LABELLING OF TEMPORAL GRANULARITY PATTERNS IN ELECTRIC POWER DEMAND WITH A BRAZILIAN CASE STUDY
ABSTRACT Clustering is commonly used to group data in order to represent the behaviour of a system as accurately as possible by obtaining patterns and profiles. In this paper, clustering is applied with partitioning-clustering techniques, specifically, Partitioning around Medoids (PAM) to analyse load curves from a city of South-eastern Brazil in São Paulo

3. Conidial germination in Scedosporium apiospermum, S. aurantiacum, S. minutisporum and Lomentospora prolificans: influence of growth conditions and antifungal susceptibility profiles
In the present study, we have investigated some growth conditions capable of inducing the conidial germination in Scedosporium apiospermum, S. aurantiacum, S. minutisporum and Lomentospora prolificans. Germination in Sabouraud medium (pH 7.0, 37ºC, 5% CO2) showed to be a typically time-dependent event, reaching ~75% in S. minutisporum and > 90% in S. apiosp

4. The Prediction of the Man-Hour in Aircraft Assembly Based on Support Vector Machine Particle Swarm Optimization
ABSTRACT: As the representative of manufacturing industry, aircraft assembly lacks of effective method to forecast man-hour. The forecasting accuracy of existing methods is universally pretty low. On the basis of full analysis of aircraft assembly's feature, this study proposes a forecasting model based on support vector machine (SVM), which is optimized by

A design methodology for circuits with dynamic reconfiguration of hardware applied to support vector machines.
Systems based on general-purpose processors are characterized by a flexibility to design changes, although with a computational performance below those based on optimized dedicated circuits. The implementation of algorithms in reconfigurable devices, known as Field Programmable Gate Arrays, FPGAs, offers a solution with a trade-off between the processors fle

7. Evolutionary games and computer simulations.
The Prisoner's Dilemma has long been considered the paradigm for studying the emergence of cooperation among selfish individuals. Because of its importance, it has been studied through computer experiments as well as in the laboratory and by analytical means. However, there are important differences between the way a system composed of many interacting eleme

9. Ultrastructural Changes in an Obligately Barophilic Marine Bacterium after Decompression
The bacterial isolate MT-41 from 10,476 m, nearly the greatest ocean depth, is obligately barophilic. The purpose of this study was to describe the morphological changes in MT-41 due to nearly isothermal decompression followed by incubation at atmospheric pressure. Two cultures were grown at 103.5 MPa and 2°C and then decompressed to atmospheric pressure (0
