1. Herbal drugs: evaluation of the microbial contamination and presence of aflatoxins, ochratoxin A and citrinin / Drogas vegetais: avaliação da contaminação microbiana e pesquisa de aflatoxinas, ocratoxina A e citrinina

2. Indoor Mold, Toxigenic Fungi, and Stachybotrys chartarum: Infectious Disease Perspective
Damp buildings often have a moldy smell or obvious mold growth; some molds are human pathogens. This has caused concern regarding health effects of moldy indoor environments and has resulted in many studies of moisture- and mold-damaged buildings. Recently, there have been reports of severe illness as a result of indoor mold exposure, particularly due to Sta

3. Occurrence of Toxigenic Aspergillus versicolor Isolates and Sterigmatocystin in Carpet Dust from Damp Indoor Environments
Over the past decade, there has been growing concern regarding the role of toxigenic fungi in damp indoor environments; however, there is still a lack of field investigations on exposure to mycotoxins. The goal of our pilot study was to quantify the proportion of toxigenic Aspergillus versicolor isolates in native carpet dust from damp dwellings with mold pr

4. Simple screening method for molds producing intracellular mycotoxins in pure cultures.
A simple screening method for molds producing the intracellular mycotoxins brevianamide A, citreoviridin, cyclopiazonic acid, luteoskyrin, penitrem A, roquefortine C, sterigmatocystin, verruculogen, viomellein, and xanthomegnin was developed. After removing an agar plug from the mold culture, the mycelium on the plug is wetted with a drop of methanol-chlorof

5. Mold flora and aflatoxin contamination of stored and cooked samples of pearl millet in the Paharia tribal belt of Santhal paragana, Bihar, India.
Stored and cooked samples of pearl millet (Pennesetum typhoides), which is regularly consumed as food by the Paharia tribe in the hilly regions of Santhal Pargana, Bihar State, India, that were harvested in January 1989 were analyzed for mold flora, natural occurrence of Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus, and incidence and levels of aflatoxin B1. Of the

6. Mycotoxins in Crude Building Materials from Water-Damaged Buildings
We analyzed 79 bulk samples of moldy interior finishes from Finnish buildings with moisture problems for 17 mycotoxins, as well as for fungi that could be isolated using one medium and one set of growth conditions. We found the aflatoxin precursor, sterigmatocystin, in 24% of the samples and trichothecenes in 19% of the samples. Trichothecenes found included
