1. Toward a phylogenetic reclassification of the subfamily Ambavioideae (Annonaceae): establishment of a new subfamily and a new tribe
ABSTRACT A molecular phylogeny of the subfamily Ambavioideae (Annonaceae) was reconstructed using up to eight plastid DNA regions (matK, ndhF, and rbcL exons; trnL intron; atpB-rbcL, psbA-trnH, trnL-trnF, and trnS-trnG intergenic spacers). The results indicate that the subfamily is not monophyletic, with the monotypic genus Meiocarpidium resolved as the seco

2. Towards a phylogenetic classification of Lychnophorinae (Asteraceae: Vernonieae) / Rumo a uma classificação filogenética de Lychnophorinae (Asteraceae: Vernonieae)
A phylogenetic hypotesis of American Vernonieae based on three molecular regions (ITS, ndhF, rpl32-trnL) and on a morphological dataset reveals the existence of four main lineages in the group. Three of these lineages correspond, with a few adjustments, to subtribes Chrestinae, Lychnophorinae and Vernoniiae. The last lineage is mainly composed of Lepidaploin

(Fabaceae) com base em DNA cloroplastídico / Analysis of vicariance hypothesis between Dalbergia nigra Allem. ex Benth. and Dalbergia miscolobium Benth. (Fabaceae) based on chloroplast DNA sequences

Sequence data for nine regions of the chloroplast genome have been obtained for 34 of the 49 genera of subtribe Ecliptinae of tribe Heliantheae. The analyzed regions include gene matK; introns petB, petD, trnL; and intergenic spacers ndhI-ndhG, rpl20-rps12, accD-rbcL, trnT-trnL, trnL-trnF. The bootstrap consensus tree reveals a monophyletic subtribe Ecliptin

6. Inefficient rpl2 splicing in barley mutants with ribosome-deficient plastids.
Analysis of transcript accumulation and splicing in plastids of four nuclear mutants of barley revealed that the ribosomal protein L2 (rpl2) gene transcripts containing a group II intron remained entirely unspliced, whereas the intron of the ribosomal protein L16 (rpl16) gene (linked with the rpl2 gene in the same operon) was removed in the mutant plastids.
