1. Effects of bagging or the combination of umbrella and bag treatments on anthocyanin accumulation in the berry skin of ‘Kyoho’ (Vitis labruscana) Grape
Abstract The object of this study was to investigate the influence of bagging or the combination of umbrella and bags on berry composition, especially anthocyanin accumulation, in ‘Kyoho’ (V. labruscana) berry skins. Five different colors and bag materials commonly used in production were chosen for this study: white, green, yellow, nonwoven and transpar

4. Therapeutic cardiac catheterization in children.
Cardiac catheterization, once the mainstay of diagnosis in children with congenital heart disease, has become a therapeutic modality for many conditions. Balloon dilatation can now open stenotic valves and vessels, coils and umbrellas can now close unwanted communications, and emboli can be withdrawn without surgical intervention.

5. Transcatheter closure of secundum atrial septal defects with the atrial septal defect occlusion system (ASDOS): initial experience in children.
OBJECTIVE--To report initial experiences with transcatheter occlusion of atrial septal defects using a new occlusion device. SUBJECTS--10 children aged 1.1 to 14.9 years. INCLUSION CRITERIA--Patients with a body weight above 10 kg, normal pulmonary resistance and an indication for surgical closure of a secundum atrial septal defect, a residual tissue rim of

6. Umbrellas and flagships: Efficient conservation surrogates or expensive mistakes?
The use of umbrella and flagship species as surrogates for regional biota whose spatial distributions are poorly known is a popular conservation strategy. Yet many assumptions underlying the choice of surrogate species remain untested. By using biodiversity databases containing spatial incidence data for species of concern for (i) the southern California coa

7. Percutaneous transcatheter retrieval of misplaced therapeutic embolisation devices.
OBJECTIVE--To assess the incidence and subsequent management of misplaced devices as a complication of therapeutic embolisation procedures. DESIGN--Retrospective review of case notes, cardiac catheterisation reports, and angiograms. SETTING--Tertiary referral centre for congenital heart disease. PATIENTS--205 consecutive children and adults undergoing therap

8. Novel cationic amphiphiles as delivery agents for antisense oligonucleotides.
There has been great interest recently in therapeutic use of nucleic acids including genes, ribozymes and antisense oligonucleotides. Despite recent improvements in delivering antisense oligonucleotides to cells in culture, nucleic acid-based therapy is still often limited by the poor penetration of the nucleic acid into the cytoplasm and nucleus of cells. 9. Umbrella occlusion of persistent arterial duct in children under two years.
OBJECTIVE--To assess the use of trans-catheter occlusion of a persistent arterial duct in symptomatic children < 2 years of age. DESIGN--Descriptive study of selected, non-randomised infants with persistent arterial duct who underwent attempted umbrella occlusion. SETTING--Tertiary referral centre. PATIENTS--Between June 1990 and April 1993, 29 young childre
