1. Lithopedion Causing Intestinal Obstruction in a 71-Year-Old Woman: A Case Report
Resumo A gravidez ectópica é a principal causa de morte materna no primeiro trimestre, e ocorre em 1 a 2% das gestações. Mais de 90% ocorrem nas tubas uterinas. 2. Histopatology of the reproductive tract of Nellore pubertal heifers with genital ureaplasmosis
ABSTRACT In order to study and characterize the lesions in the reproductive tract of Nellore heifers naturally infected with Ureaplasma diversum and presenting granular vulvovaginitis syndrome (GVS), fragments of uterine tube, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva of 20 animals were evaluated. The macroscopic lesions of the vulvovaginal mucosa were classified in

3. Sexual transmission of American trypanosomiasis in humans: a new potential pandemic route for Chagas parasites
BACKGROUND The Trypanosoma cruzi infection endemic in Latin America has now spread to several countries across four continents; this endemic involves triatomine vector-free protists. We hypothesised that the sexual transmission of T. cruzi contributes to the ongoing spread of Chagas disease. OBJECTIVES A short-term longitudinal study was conducted to eva

4. Laparoscopic repair for vesicouterine fistulae
ABSTRACT Objective: The purpose of this video is to present the laparoscopic repair of a VUF in a 42-year-old woman, with gross hematuria, in the immediate postoperative phase following a cesarean delivery. The obstetric team implemented conservative management, including Foley catheter insertion, for 2 weeks. She subsequently developed intermittent hematur

5. Genital schistosomiasis mansoni concomitant to genital tumor in areas of low endemicity: challenging diagnosis
Genital infection by Schistosoma mansoni is usually misdiagnosed in individuals who reside in, or travel to endemic areas. We describe two cases of genital tumor associated with S. mansoni infection manifested by methrorragy. Surgical specimens revealed leiomyomas in both cases associated with S. mansoni. In one of them, granulomas were found in the ovary an

6. Etanol, deficiência de ácido fólico e associação desses dois fatores durante a gestação de camundongos swiss / Etanol, Deficiency of Acid Fólico and Association Of these Two Factors During the Gestation of Swiss Mice
In spite of the well known teratogenic effect of ethanol, it is still the most consumed exogenous abuse substance by women of reproductive age. Ethanol also impairs the absorption, transport and metabolism of folic acid. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ethanol, dietary deficiency of folic acid and the association of both on the outcom

The aim of this work was to perform a morphometric analysis of the uterine tube epithelium of sexually mature sows, with or without pathological changes. The sows were either in follicular or luteal phases. One hundred and twenty-four uterine tubes of sixty-two sows were obtained from slaughterhouses. Sections of the uterine tube, uterus and ovary were proce

9. Reproductive system abnormalities in Schistosoma mansoni adult worms isolated from Nectomys squamipes (Muridae: Sigmodontinae): brightfield and confocal laser scanning microscopy analysis
Schistosoma mansoni adult worms with genital anomalies isolated from Nectomys squamipes (Muridae: Sigmodontinae) were studied by confocal laser scanning microscopy under the reflected mode. One male without testicular lobes (testicular agenesia/anorchism) and two females, one with an atrophied ovary and another with 17 uterine eggs, were identified. The abse

10. Morphometric evidence of changes in the vasculature of the uterine tube of mice induced by the 2-cell embryo on the second day of pregnancy.
Some evidence suggests that the uterine tube plays an active role in supporting the development of the preimplantation embryo. To determine whether there were morphological and/or ultrastructural changes in the uterine tube as a consequence of pregnancy, the region of the uterine tube containing 2-cell embryos or oocytes was examined in untreated d 2 pregnan

12. Atypical cilia of the human endometrial epithelium.
We suggest that human endometrial ciliated cells represent a developmental overlap with the uterine tube epithelium and that the high incidence of ciliary abnormality is related to the relatively high turnover rate caused by menstruation. Abnormal cilia appear to be due to a defect of ciliogenesis probably occurring after the formation of the basal bodies.
