1. The Relationship Between Epicardial Adipose Tissue Thickness and Presence of Left Atrial Thrombus in Mitral Stenosis Patients
Abstract Objective: To examine the relationship between the left atrial (LA) thrombus presence and the epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) thickness. Methods: Three hundred and twelve consecutive rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (RMVS) patients with mitral valve area (MVA) < 2 cm2 were included in this cross-sectional study. Patients were divided into two group

2. PHYSICAL AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF EUCALYPTUS WOOD CHARCOAL.
ABSTRACT The knowledge of the physical and thermal properties of eucalyptus charcoal is of fundamental importance in the design of equipment and development of cooling technologies. However, literature about physical properties for eucalyptus wood charcoal is largely unavailable, especially the thermal and aerodynamic properties, for the same material. The a

3. Longitudinal Aerodynamic and Stability Characteristics of High-Aspect-Ratio Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Gust Response
ABSTRACT The aim of this work is to propose an accurate and reliable numerical simulation method of gust response, so as to analyze longitudinal stability characteristics of high-aspect-ratio unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under gust response. Based on the dual-time stepping method, the unsteady Navies-Stokes equation was solved. By introducing grid velocit

5. Finite element evaluation of the effects of curvature in Lamb waves for composites structural health monitoring
Abstract This work presents the effect of the high curvature to thickness ratio on the characteristics of Lamb Waves propagating over the skins of composite structures. It is accessed how the curvature on composite skins affects the group velocity of the symmetrical (S0) and asymmetrical (A0) wave modes. It is also accessed the gradient of curvature effect,

6. Effect of Growth Velocity and Zn Content on Microhardness in Directionally Solidified Al-Zn Alloys
In this study, Al-xZn (x=1, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 20 wt. %) alloys were prepared using metals of 99.99% high purity in the vacuum atmosphere. These alloys were directionally solidified upward with a constant temperature gradient, G (10.3 K/mm) and different growth velocities (V) between 8.25 and 165 µm/s in the directional solidification apparatus. The experiment

7. Movimiento de las interfases durante la solidificación horizontal de aleaciones estaño-zinc
ABSTRACT Solidification processing is one of the important routes to produce materials, especially metals and alloys. The parameters for the transformation from liquid to solid, such as the temperature gradient, the growth rate, the cooling rate, the interphase velocity, vary from process to process and in one process also as a function of time and space. 8. A Statistical Dynamic Model for the Turbulent Transport of Kinetic Energy in Shear Layers
ABSTRACT: Dynamic statistical equations for the turbulent fluxes of scalars and momentum in incompressible flows are derived after time wise integration of the equation for the oscillating transported property, decomposing the turbulent fluxes in terms representing distinct features of the main and fluctuating flow that influence the respective turbulent tra

9. Fish habitat associations along a longitudinal gradient in a preserved coastal Atlantic stream, Brazil
ABSTRACT Habitat conditions at multiple scales are one of the major factors structuring ichthyofauna. Thus, we analyzed the fish habitat associations along the headwater-mouth gradient of a coastal Atlantic stream. We categorized the sampling sites into habitat units, so that in the middle reach these categories were statistically differentiated into riffles

10. Macrosegregation of Impurities in a Metallurgical Silicon Ingot After Transient Directional Solidification
Metallurgical grade silicon was melted and directionally solidified in transient conditions by extracting heat from the base of a cylindrical ingot and inserting heat at the ingot top. A heat-transfer mathematical model was implemented to predict the solidification velocity and temperature gradient using cooling curves measured directly in the silicon melt.

11. Influences of Growth Velocity and Fe Content on Microstructure, Microhardness and Tensile Properties of Directionally Solidified Al-1.9Mn-xFe Ternary Alloys
In this study, influences of growth velocity and composition (Fe content) on the microstructure (rod spacing) and mechanical properties (microhardness, ultimate tensile strength and fracture surface) of Al-Mn-Fe ternary alloys have been investigated. Al-1.9 Mn-xFe (x=0.5, 1.5 and 5 wt. %) were prepared using metals of 99.99% high purity in the vacuum atmosph

12. Statins for aortic valve stenosis
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Aortic valve stenosis is the most common type of valvular heart disease in the USA and Europe. Aortic valve stenosis is considered similar to atherosclerotic disease. Some studies have evaluated statins for aortic valve stenosis. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of statins in aortic valve stenosis. METHODS: Searc
