1. COMPLEXO ESTUARINO LAGUNAR MUNDAÚ-MANGUABA: CARACTERIZAÇÃO DA MATÉRIA ORGÂNICA NATURAL E INTERAÇÃO COM ÍONS Hg2+
The Mundaú-Manguaba lagoon estuary complex is the most important ecosystem in the state of Alagoas, and a source of sustenance for a large number of the state’s inhabitants. However, degradation by anthropic sources has been causing impacts on this ecosystem. Understanding the characteristics of the natural organic material of the waters of the mundaú-ma

2. DIARRHEAGENIC Escherichia coli IN RAW MILK, WATER, AND CATTLE FECES IN NON-TECHNIFIED DAIRY FARMS
STEC, EPEC,

3. Physicochemical quality of and Escherichia coli resistance profiles in urban surface waters

4. Establishment of Leguminous Trees in the Soil of a Shooting Range
ABSTRACT Shooting range activities risk contaminating the soil, posing potential risks to human health, the local biota, and water sources. Considering that soil organisms are the first to be affected by contamination, this study aimed to evaluate the initial growth of the leguminous tree Albizia polycephala and its association with microbes in soil taken fr

5. Contamination of pigs by Yersinia enterocolitica in the abattoir flowchart and its relation to the farm

6. Ecotoxicology of Pig Slaughterhouse Waste Using Lactuca sativa L., Raphanus sativus L., and Oryza sativa L.
ABSTRACT Pork is the most consumed animal protein around the world. The production levels are significant, which results in the generation of large amounts of slaughter waste. Such waste is often disposed of improperly in agricultural areas, causing environmental imbalance by the contamination of soil and water sources with metals and pathogenic organisms. T

7. Heavy metals in the São Mateus Stream Basin, Peixe River Basin, Paraiba do Sul River Basin, Brazil

9. High Uranium Concentrations in the Groundwater of the Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, Mountainous Region
Unexpectedly high uranium concentrations, up to 930 µg L-1, approximately thirty times higher than the World Health Organization (WHO) guidance level, were observed in groundwater samples from the mountainous region near Rio de Janeiro City, the so-called “Região Serrana”, approximately 60 km from the city. This region is characterized by a large numbe

10. Potentially mobile of heavy metals on the surface sediments in tropical hyper-saline and positive estuaries
ABSTRACT Estuarine sediments represent important pools of trace metals, released from both anthropogenic and natural sources. Fluctuations in the water column physicochemical conditions, on the other hand, may transfer metals from solid to liquid compartment and resulting in contamination of the surrounding environment. The present research was carried out t

11. Characterization of the variable region in the class 1 integron of antimicrobial-resistant Escherichia coli isolated from surface water
Abstract Fecal bacteria are considered to be a potential reservoir of antimicrobial resistance genes in the aquatic environment and could horizontally transfer these genes to autochthonous bacteria when carried on transferable and/or mobile genetic elements. Such circulation of resistance genes constitutes a latent public health hazard. The aim of this study

12. Assessing the sources of high fecal coliform levels at an urban tropical beach
Recreational water quality is commonly assessed by microbial indicators such as fecal coliforms. Maceió is the capital of Alagoas state, located in tropical northeastern Brazil. Its beaches are considered as the most beautiful urban beaches in the country. Jatiúca Beach in Maceió was found to be unsuitable for bathing continuously during the year of 2011.
