1. Incorporation of Fluorescent Dyes in Electrospun Chitosan/Poly(ethylene oxide)
Polymeric films have been increasingly investigated due to the ease of miniaturization and integration in several sensor devices. Films obtained from the electrospinning technique have a controlled diameter and homogeneity, and substances can be incorporated into the polymeric network. Electrospinning fiber of chitosan (Ch) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) was

2. Microstructure evolution during the extrusion of a 6351 aluminum alloy tube
Abstract The aluminum alloy AA 6351 is a precipitation hardened alloy of the Al-Mg-Si system, additionally containing Mn and Fe. In this study, the microstructural characterization during processing of a thick wall extruded AA 6351 tube was carried out. Several complementary techniques for microstructural characterization were used, such as polarized light o

3. QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube test in active tuberculosis patients and healthy adults
ABSTRACT Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) release assays have improved latent tuberculosis (TB) detection and have been considered promising for the diagnosis of TB disease. However, diagnosis efficacy data is limited in high burden countries. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic potential of the QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test for the d

4. Incorporation of Lead Containing TV Tube Glass Waste in Aluminous Porcelain
The aim of this work was to study the incorporation of lead containing TV tube glass waste as a method to provide alternative raw material for aluminous electrical porcelain. For this purpose, aluminous porcelain formulations containing up to 30 wt.% of TV tube glass waste as a replacement for traditional flux material (sodium feldspar) were pressed and fire

5. Biological X-ray irradiator characterization for use with small animals and cells
This study presents the characterization of an X-ray irradiator through dosimetric tests, which confirms the actual dose rate that small animals and cells will be exposed to during radiobiological experiments. We evaluated the linearity, consistency, repeatability, and dose distribution in the positions in which the animals or cells are placed during irradia

6. Residual Stress Evaluation by X-Ray Diffraction and Hole-Drilling in an API 5L X70 Steel Pipe Bent by Hot Induction
The API 5L X70 steel is used in high-pressure gas transmission pipelines. Because of this, knowledge of presence of residual stress and their magnitude is important to assess the material integrity in service. For the pipeline manufacturing, tubes need to be curved which is often made using the hot induction bending process. This process can introduce differ

7. InfecÃÃo latente por mycobacterium tuberculosis em portadores de infecÃÃo por HIV/AIDS: anÃlise atravÃs do uso de teste tuberculÃnico e teste de liberaÃÃo de interferon-gama / Latent infection by mycobacterium tuberculosis in patients with HIV / AIDS: analysis through the use of tuberculin test and interferon-gamma release
People living with HIV have an enhanced chance to develop and to die of tuberculosis (TB). Many studies demonstrate that chemoprophylaxis for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) reduces the progression to active TB. Indeed, the diagnosis of LTBI is controversial. In Brazil, the only test approved for use is the tuberculin skin test (TST), however, this test

8. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone-assisted synthesis of crystalline manganese vanadate microtubes
Manganese vanadate microtubes have been synthesized by a facile polyvinyl pyrrolidone-assisted hydrothermal route. X-ray diffraction pattern confirms that the microtubes are composed of monoclinic MnV2O6, tetragonal V2O5 and orthorhombic MnO2 phases. The outer diameter and inner diameter of the microtubes are about 300 nm-3 µm and 200 nm-1 µm, respectively

12. X-ray beam qualities for dental radiology purposes / PadronizaÃÃo de qualidade de feixes de raios-X para uso em radiologia odontolÃgica
In order to establish characteristics or properties of equipment for diagnostic radiology, e.g. ion chambers and semiconductor detectors, calibration laboratories offer a set of well-defined radiation conditions, called X-ray qualities, which can be used for many Physics studies and medical purposes. These X-ray qualities can be determined in terms of: (a) X
